Monica (booksarelove) | 121 comments I can personally recommend Good as Gold by Joseph Heller, and I see that several other authors have written books with the same title.

message 3: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 1792 comments A good place for me to fit the final Daevabad book, The Empire of Gold.

message 8: by Anabell (last edited Nov 19, 2019 03:49AM) (new)

Anabell | 355 comments I've planned to read some James Bond next year so:
Goldfinger
The Man With the Golden Gun

message 9: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (jenntendo64) | 56 comments Yes! So excited to use Empire of Gold by SA Chakraborty is coming out this year so I could use it for this prompt.

I also loved Spinning Silver!

message 10: by Mairéad (new)

Mairéad | 11 comments Twist of Gold

Anyone looking for a historical middle grade! I haven't read it since I was eleven so not sure how it holds up, might give it a re-read for this challenge.

message 11: by Chrissi (last edited Nov 18, 2019 11:47AM) (new)

Chrissi (clewand84) | 239 comments I will probably go with The Silver Music Box, which I have on my Kindle.

The Bronze Bow - middle grade/YA

Bronze and Sunflower

The Silver Linings Playbook

The Silver Chair (C.S. Lewis)

Silver Sparrow Tayari Jones

Silver Bay (JoJo Moyes)

Sarah (sarahbastien1) | 113 comments Strands of Bronze and Gold is a great two-for-one pick!

message 14: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 747 comments The Goldfinch - this book fits into so many prompts for me that it practically has to get read next year

The Golden Age of Murder
Goldie Vance Vol. 1 - good short option

These are actually the only three books on my tbr that work for this prompt! I really would have thought I would have more.

message 16: by Sara (last edited Nov 19, 2019 09:00AM) (new)

Sara The Bronze Horseman by Paulina Simmons

message 18: by Karin (new)

Karin The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics is a good one!

I plan to scour my want to read shelf on GR and to see what will be coming up in some of my other group themes and reads.

message 19: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 231 comments I'm thinking of this being my three week prompt to get me to 52. The only book I have on my TBR that counts is Spinning Silver so I'm not sure if I'll stick with that.

message 20: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Harbeke | 742 comments Grace, Gold, and Glory: My Leap of Faith by Gabrielle Douglas is on my TBR.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson, if you want a chunker of a book.

message 22: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (rellareads) Chain of Gold (The Last Hours, #1) by Cassandra Clare This will be out in March :)

Oooo, that's a good idea for those of us who like 52 prompts

message 24: by Tania (last edited Nov 19, 2019 05:28AM) (new)

Tania | 692 comments This is like the 3rd prompt that works with the VC Andrews books on my shelf, which I've been wanting to reread for a while. I have this one:
Tarnished Gold

Childrens/YA that works:
By the Shores of Silver Lake
The Silver Chair

message 25: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Harbeke | 742 comments Quicksilver by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens is a thriller set in the Pentagon. I really enjoyed it.

message 26: by Maddy (new)

Maddy Buell | 14 comments I'm going with A Sky Painted Gold for this one!

I was really stumped on this, until I realized (thanks to the above comments!) that “GOLDEN” works. Voila! The Golden Hour by Beatriz Williams

I know; it's so perfect! But I'm having problems getting even a backup for it as written. I suppose that means that it'll be good for me as a challenge.

message 29: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (mrshurd) | 33 comments Excited for this because I have had this book on my to read list for a while now!
Iron Gold

Couple others that work:
Chain of Gold
The Silvered Serpents

message 30: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer T. (jent998) | 265 comments It’s finally time to read this! Been on my shelf since I bought it.

The City of Brass

message 31: by Marie-Claude (new)

Marie-Claude | 12 comments Fans of history podcasts (and history in general) will probably be interested in this one: The End Is Always Near: Apocalyptic Moments, from the Bronze Age Collapse to Nuclear Near Misses

message 32: by Johanne (last edited Nov 22, 2019 02:20AM) (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1301 comments I might read the Magisterium series, which will cover all three ;)

The Iron Trial (Magisterium, #1) by Holly Black The Copper Gauntlet (Magisterium, #2) by Holly Black The Bronze Key (Magisterium, #3) by Holly Black The Silver Mask (Magisterium #4) by Holly Black The Golden Tower (Magisterium, #5) by Holly Black

message 33: by Rachael (new)

Rachael | 136 comments The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (yes I may be taking some liberties with the prompt but it never said gold had to be a standalone word!)

message 34: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 17 comments Ugh The City of Brass so close.

I started reading this series when it came out, and I absolutely loved it!

message 37: by Kristin (last edited Nov 26, 2019 07:06AM) (new)

Kristin (ladykristianna) | 11 comments I feel like it may be cheating, but The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi is the one I'm going with. Technically, 'gilded' is another word for 'gold' or 'covered thinly with gold leaf or gold paint.' Plus, the cover is just damn gorgeous.

message 38: by Mari (new)

Mari Harju | 4 comments I recommend Naomi Novik's Spinni g Silver wholeheartedly

message 39: by Eujean2 (new)

Eujean2 | 249 comments Turns out I may be bending this prompt. This year I read The Reader from "The Sea of Ink & Gold" series, so I was planning to read the next book in the series, The Speaker. The only problem is that when I look up the books now, they have changed the series to "The Reader Series." Some parts of GoodReads & the older book covers still show the original series name. Unless I find a really compelling alternative, I think I am still going to use this book.

A Touch of Gold was amazing. Inspired by the Midas myth/folklore. Loved it!

message 41: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 643 comments I'm leaning toward Chain of Gold, but I also recently found out about Darling Rose Gold and that looks really interesting too!

They get added if someone goes to add them. it's not automatic.

Pua | 37 comments I haven't read these, but Gold Fame Citrus and Silver Bay would work for this prompt.

message 50: by Linda (new)

Linda (inlindasmind) definitely going with Chain of Gold - really looking forward to reading it!
