I saw your Kengaskan! Congrats! That's a regional one so you have a unique one in that.
We didn't do much or go for very long because it's so dark and everyone has their brights on on top of their headlights and it was rush hour traffic. But I got another Rhyhorn, two Tentacools, and a Swinub. Being out this morning I caught some Murkrow, Torchic, Tentacool, and finally a Whismur which I need another 2 of for special research. Still no shiny Tentacool and I have yet to catch a perfect IV stat Pokemon, but I did catch my first Pokemon with zero IV stats; it's weird seeing one with empty bars.
right now I'm just happy to have hatched my first Riolu from the 50k weekly walking 10k egg reward, so now I can work toward a Lucario which is apparently good against Team GO Rocket leaders.

Sounds perfect! I got back and all the lights hurt so now I'm feeling very tired. I don't know how much I'll read tonight after all. But yes please do that. I'll have that to work toward and you'll have progress out of the way to work on other books.

I like that the book is trying to convince us Blue is kind somehow. Or the sort to even give compliments and not insults and judgment.

I have a feeling that when it comes to books, I tend to set the pace. When it comes to anime, you'll set the pace ahaha.

But so far in the book there is too much Blue.

Alolan Vulpix is so cute! Yeah it's weird when that happens and suddenly you have a random extra Pokemon in your bag. It's unfortunate that it takes away from egg hatching too.
You can hatch a Riolu from 10k eggs, apparently sometimes 7k eggs that you get from friend gifts. I have hatched many of both eggs and this is my first Riolu, so it's rare.

Ohhhh am I setting the pace for Vinland Saga then? At the very least for this one since it's airing I say we catch up to ep18 by the time episode 19 airs (so by the 24th unless they skip another week) and then maintaining watching each new episode within a couple days of it airing.

I didn't get much read. The heat chased me out of my bedroom and into the living room, and in there all I wanted to do was zone out and scroll on my phone ahaha. It's 8.30PM and finally cool enough to come back.

I love the Alolan Vulpix! Also I have a 10k egg. Gonna incubate that and take like two weeks to hatch it because I am seriously not going outside without an Opal card. I am not walking around in this heat. I noticed Riolu is now your buddy!!! *G*

I got to chapter one, which is page 12. Like I said, not a lot of reading done, but I've already had enough of Blue ahahah.

"A little away from the group, Ronan's younger brother, Matthew, nattered away to their mother, Aurora, happy for this visit. The two of them were golden-haired and angelic, both of them looking like inventions of the place. Blue longed to hate Aurora because of her origin - literally dreamt up by her husband - and because she had the attention span and intellectual prowess of a puppy. But the truth was that she was endlessly kind and upbeat, as compulsively loveable as her youngest son." (p.14)

What kind of reason is that to hate someone? Why would Blue even want to hate her? Sure, if she was a little iffy about the fact that she was dreamt up, I could understand that. But hate her? That's too strong.

Blue's back at it again with the insults. "She's beautiful but she's as stupid as a dog" - whatever helps Blue sleep at night, I guess? She always attacks other women if they're beautiful. For someone who claims to want to be unconventional with her clothes and beauty standards (going outside looking like she fought her closet blindfolded) she sure gets defensive about other women.

Also, I don't understand why she cares so much? Last book she full-on slut-shamed another woman and got jealous when Gansey (or was it Adam?) gave that woman attention despite Blue constantly rejecting his advances. She led Adam on and then got angry when he expected more from her because she actively made him believe something was there. She has no room to judge other women for literally anything that they do.

I'm already disappointed by this book. If Maggie Stiefvater can't write women without making them needlessly bitchy toward each other, slut-shaming each other and generally just being complete assholes then giving them everything they desire at no cost, then she needs to populate her books with men only. She gives men more humanity than she is ever capable of giving women.

Currently I'd say Riolu since it'll help in battles, hence buddy status since that'll help accumulate candy for it. Other cool hatches have been Stantler, Scyther, Golett, Bagon, Porygon, Cranidos, Munchlax, Togepi, Nosepass, Dratini, and shiny Gligar. My bf hatched a Farfetch'd a while back.

Also i recently learned some of the pokemon storage searches you can do. Typing keywords in the searchbar like shiny, shadow. purified, hatched will bring up those types of Pokemon. Typing 0*, 1*, 2*, 3*, and 4* will bring up pokemon withbthose IV star stats, 0 being none abd 4* for perfect ones.

Ugh yeah avoid that heat. No sense getting heatstroke for it. Not every 10k hatch will be super cool anyway, at least not when you get the sane one over and over.

Fav moment? Uhhhh idk if I really have one but I guess when Leif and the rest go back to tell Helga and Ylva wgat hapoened and Ylva spends the episode pushing aside her grief because she doesn't have time for that. And I just loved it because it's not often I see anime focus on this part of grief psychology where the character pushes aside that part of reality to focus on what else needs to be done until they're forced to take that moment for themselves at last.
I guess that'd be my favourite moment but my favorite aspect has been watching Askeladd's relationship with Thorfinn and how he's teaching him survival skills and life lessons without letting Thorfinn let go of his hate that's kept him alive.

Psssst it's because Ronan's mom isn't human and Blue is nothing if not spiteful toward all things she doesn't understand or want to acknowledge as having value because she doesn't like it.

It was Gansey. She was at the stage of stringing Adam along and not acknowledging her crush on Gansey or her jealousy at not getting all male attention. I think she did or would have forgiven Ronan not focusing on her only because she decided early on respect was what she wanted from him (ha! Dream on bitch!) and not to kiss bang him like all the others. She knows he's too dangerous to put up with her bs getting that close to him.

I feel like anyone reading this who isn't quite young has ship blinders on preventing them from seeing Blue as she is. Blue is not what we should aspire to be or teach girls to become.

The point, clearly, is to remind us that amidst the plot, Adam is sad and still not doing as well as he wants to, so don't let him think you pity him or god forbid want to help him out because you fucking care about his wellbeing, he a sad poor boy who is sad not to be with Blue.

This book hurts and I'm not even at ch1 yet and everything hurts. Persephone didn't bother me until now but her in that opening is so trite. Why. Why is this series popular?

This series is dead-set on fucking me over, isn't it? Blue demanded that Ronan dream up some kind of bridge and demanded to know why he said he couldn't do it, so he matched her energy and witheringly told her that he would have to sleep there and could drain the energy out of the ley line and cause Cabeswater to move, and she was silent for like half a second and then snapped back "wElL yOu HaVeN't CoMe Up WiTh A bEtTeR iDeA!" like shut up you useless clotpole. You haven't done anything since you touched someone to amplify their powers when they specifically told you not to and you shrugged it off like you didn't just do something wrong.

No see here's the thing, Adam's chapter lent nothing to the plot. He was just sad about money. You would think that after telling everyone that he doesn't want to be pitied for being poor that he would stop mentioning the fact that he has no money. He needed $15 to get passed some kind of tollbooth or something, had only $12 and then the chapter ends. I don't understand the significance of that chapter. I don't understand where he is or where he was going because he ended up in a car going to the airport with his friends anyway.

Yeah people would be like "omg she dresses weirdly, gives no fucks, says whatever she wants and does whatever she wants, damn the consequences." And it's like...actually no, what you're looking at is a literal idiot who could contain her empathy and humanity in a thimble quite easily, who many would be embarrassed to be seen with because half these clothes combinations are fucking abominations. Also, she says she was bullied because she was different, but I'm willing to bet what really happened is that she was ostracised for being a complete cunt to everyone and thinking herself above them.

Oh that's right. I remember being super pissed at Blue for that. She led Adam along as she was flirting with Gansey, screamed at Adam because he fell for the bait she laid out for him, and then got up in Gansey's business for reacting to the flirting of another girl despite not being in a relationship - AND THEN GANSEY CALLED HER OUT. Kinda. But it was nice to see Blue shoved back in line. Dunno why any of them actually like her, but you know these quartet's always gotta have that one-girl-three-guys thing where to be "one of the guys" she's gotta put them down every two seconds. YA, I swear to god...


I'm sorry for the spoilers but I'm not even 50 pages in so these aren't book destroying spoilers yet.

Oh good, you're as angry as I was about Blue touching Calla against her will. Good to know I didn't overreact to that one. When Blue did it I was like "I'd happily gutterstomp her."

Also, no Pynch moments yet but Gansey and Blue had a really awkward hand-touching moment and then Gansey almost crashes the car because he nearly missed the exit lmao. #priorities.

Adam's part is there for Stiefvater to remind us to pity him. That's probably it.

This book gets better when Blue's not there. I always feel my interest piquing whenever it's just the boys. She comes back? I'm begging for her to die a horrific death. Can we swap Gansey's death for hers? Is that a thing we can do?

Blue: I don't understand why Gansey has all this used equipment. Oh Adam is looking at it all too, he must not understand either. Oh but I just figured it out, it's not new but used because Gansey has used this before. I figured this out before Adam, who clearly didn't know either even though he's been with Gansey for years and knows of his quest obsession. But no no Adam didn't understand because this chapter is from my perspective and I'm the smart one.

That's a nice thought. Let's cling to the possibility of that true happy ending

It rankles that Blue had to make constant mention of how used everything was. Like, who cares? "Oh my god he has something that isn't brand new???" Blue, if you keep this up, I'll give you something new in the form of a black eye. For someone who claims to love Gansey a lot $he really $ee$ the true$t value in him doe$n't $he? $he doe$n't care about all hi$ money or how he $pend$ it. Not at all. If you can't be friends with someone without thinking about how much money they have, they aren't your friend their either your bank account or the reason for your inferiority complex.

Orla was literally stating that she might not even have the boys as her friends next year because they're all going to different places once they graduate and that the people that'll still be here could be people she's never bothered to even talk to. And that's what caused the tantrum.

And we've got this parting petty shot from Blue's thoughts: "She whirled away with as much grace as she could manage on her long legs and massive shoes." Like sweetie you've mentioned several times Orla is more beautiful than you. Don't be jealous because she's tall and beautiful and you're small and forgettable.
