Here's just some general points for discussion but feel free to mention anything from these chapters!

How did you feel about the book over all?

Did you find yourself wishing there were more?

How does this stand against other Holly Black novels that you have read?

Raciel jasper forsythe | 4 comments i liked the concept and the execution was great but i had a couple of problems and one of them was major.

the first problem was how dull valentina was as a character. i single her out because when i read trans characters, i want them to be interesting and badass and have a backstory but she ticks none of thse boxes

the next problem is the major one and that was the constant mention of needles, IVs and tubes in peoples arms. i find these things incredibly triggering and it made it almost impossible to finish the book (i did manage to, but barely). if i had known about this, i would not have picked this up at all. but this is just a personal problem so if you don't have problems with this kind of thing, you'll do fine.

Helen Park (eshelenpark) Honestly I thought that Tana was going to become immune to vampirism and going cold because she was sort of bitten and scratched in the house when she was leaving through the window. Throughout the book she mentions the wound and predicts that she will go cold although she doesn't see any changes within the 48 hours or so. Even in the beginning of the book there is some speculation that some vampire hunters inject themselves with a little bit of vampire blood/venom everyday to grow immune to it.

When Midnight bit Tana I really thought that she wasn't going to become cold, but eventually she does and I have to say I was kind of surprised. I'm glad that she did go cold though because it shows that she isn't a Mary Sue.

I really loved the ending when she decided to self quarantine and even made a live blog feed to help the rest of the world understand a bit more the process of sweating it out.
