With Book Two we get some new characters in the group. Tika joins as the group are taken prisoner in Solace. Gilthanas appears as well. Fizban is picked up along the road. We finally meet Laurana (who has been hinted at till now) in Qualinsot. And then there's the mysterious Eben picked up on the trail to Pax Tharkas.
What are your thoughts so far about any and all of them?
I love Fizban. He rocks. Both Eben and Gilthanas bother me. Laurana is one of my two favourites. She is spoiled and naive, but her character grows so much which is cool to see. I love seeing character growth in books.
With a slight exception for Fizban I didn't care for any of them. I mentioned this elsewhere, but they seemed to come out of nowhere very quickly and without much substance. Having got this far through the book, I'm wondering if this is an inherent flaw with writing D&D style adventures in novel form, as I've found much of the setting and characters beyond the Companions a bit one dimensional.
Loved Fizban! Could care less about the rest. And while I agree that Laurana has the most room for character growth, I felt like the authors beat us over the head with it.
