Netherlands & Flanders group discussion

I am interested in getting your views about the fact that Amazon KDP is now also available in the Netherlands. Do you see this as a threat or an opportunity?

Amazon so far only sells e-books and the Kindle. But even if they were to sell more, I honestly only think it's a threat for Bol.com ;-) The Netherlands has a fixed book price so I doubt Dutch books will suffer. At least no more than they already did with Bol.com around.

And as for English books, I suspect many people already ordered those online anyway (as the price difference between book stores and online stores is quite large)...

I think the arrival of Amazon in Holland benefits authors first and foremost. Uploading ebooks on the KDP dashboard is free and simple. I have been using teh platform since 2013 and am very happy with the possibilities it offfers us self-publishing authors. And if you do it right, you can even hit the bestselling lists!
