Finders Keepers - Pre-Release Thread
This reminds me of another book.. For the life of me I can't remember which one.. Anyway, this book sounds great. Reads great? It can't really sound if I'm reading it... What was I talking about?..
That's right! I cant wait till it comes out. I like Hodges and Jerome. I loved Holly! I guess I should request it at my local library now...
For those, like me, who can't wait, Finders Keepers is already available for pre-order on Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Finders-Keepe...
Really!? I didn't even like Mr. Mercedes, and had sworn off Finders Keepers based on that. However, after reading the synopsis, I want to read this book! Bad!! Darn it, King.

Luciana, I've never understood pre-ordering as I see that it doesn't even come out until June 2, 2015, correct? Am I missing something?
Depending on where you pre-order from, you sometimes get the book delivered to your doorstep even before you can buy it on the shelf in the store without having to go TO the store that day.If you pre-order the ebook it appears on your device at midnight so, again, you get a leg up.
I pre-order books from Amazon because of the price guarantee. You place the pre-order then pay the lowest price the book reaches between your pre-order date and actual release date. So if you pre-order at a 25% discount but then a week before the book releases it goes to a 30% discount you'll get the better discount without having to constantly monitor for the best discount.Of course most stores also deeply discount books upon release, so I can understand waiting as well.

I guess Kandice and Travis have already answered you, Betsy, thank you both :) I like to pre-order, and get it on my Kindle as soon as it is released.
What does everyone think of the US cover ? To me it's the same as Mr. Mercedes but they replaced an umbrella with a book. I would've liked to have seen something original. What are they going to put on the cover of the 3rd book with raining blood ?

this blog shows both covers http://www.liljas-library.com/section... . I am afraid I prefer the UK cover.(by the way, I don't know this blog at all, Google Search took me there)
Luciana wrote: "this blog shows both covers http://www.liljas-library.com/section... . I am afraid I prefer the UK cover.(by the way, I don't know this blog at all, Google Search took me there)"Despite having said I think continuity is nice, I really do like the UK cover!
I don't keep up with that blog but have seen it quite a few times when members in this group have posted links. It's always interesting and she (he?) is certainly well informed.
More SK is always good.Luciana wrote: "this blog shows both covers http://www.liljas-library.com/section... . I am afraid I prefer the UK cover.(by the way, I don't know this blog at all, Google Search took me there)"
It's the same for Revival. The UK version cover is better.
Luciana wrote: "this blog shows both covers http://www.liljas-library.com/section... . I don't hate it per se but the UK version is more eye catching.
I cannot wait for Finders Keepers too. The story about a vengeful reader intrigues me a lot. I can't wait to hear about the third book as well. What will be the title? What will be the topic? How the cover art will look like? Et cetera.
Hodges, Holly and Jerome are not the usual television perfect crime fighting team. Especially Holly is an amazing character. I will be reading all three Hodges books.
I am always on pins and needles waiting for whatever he is releasing next. God forbid he stop releasing two books a year!

That trio was one of the many things that I loved about Mr. Mercedes. I, too, am anxious for this to be released.

Is it an official table or a fan game?So far I spotted:
(view spoiler)
I doubt very much they're villains in Finders Keepers. Unless they're just quick mentions, or maybe they're part of that writer's book. If so, then I REALLY can't wait.
I will not be falling for the Christine sequel again this year!
I just found out this morning in the Stephen King newsletter that a Finders Keepers excerpt is available at Entertainment Weekly:http://www.ew.com/article/2015/05/13/...

Thanks for that.
Can't wait. Already pre ordered the Kindle edition. I will wait for a deal on the hardcover for my collection. I've saved the copy of the ET magazine as well. Love new King reads!

I was excited when I saw this in EW, can't wait!
The Great debate for me was either to go with the ebook edition or the HC. I went with the HC. Amazon $23, cant beat it.
Dean wrote: "The Great debate for me was either to go with the ebook edition or the HC. I went with the HC. Amazon $23, cant beat it."King is one of a very few authors I buy both. The Hard back for my "collection" and the Nook book for ease and portability. It's a bit expensive but he only releases two a year, so I feel justified.
I actually prefer mass market ppb. So I normally start off with a HC and then get the mmppb when it becomes available and get rid of the HC. But lately I have just been getting the e book. The only problem is, is that the e book is $19.99 and the HC is $23.54. I don't like paying that much for an e book.

I always used to fascinated by the "Canadian price" on book jackets being higher than the U.S.A. price. Is it the same for e-books? That's crummy if it't true! The e-book on B&N is $14.99.
Yeah, I am quite "fascinated" by the price difference myself. Even when The Canadian $ was worth more the prices never dropped. We pay a lot more for books. You're going to pay $14.99 and I'll pay $19.99 for the same book.
Dean wrote: "Yeah, I am quite "fascinated" by the price difference myself. Even when The Canadian $ was worth more the prices never dropped. We pay a lot more for books. I just thought, when I was a child, that Canadians must be rich or something. ;)
What I meant by "fascinated" was that I always thought that we paid more because our dollar wasn't worth as much as the U.S. dollar then when our dollar was worth more the prices stayed about the same. Now I don't know what to think. Nope Canadians don't have more money, we just pay more for the same product.
Got my Kindle version on Amazon a few weeks ago for 7.47 pouns (around US$ 11.50). Some kind of 63% discount thing. Can't wait!

I am sixth on the digital waiting list for my state's digital book consortium. I am just wondering how many licenses they will get? Will I be reading it tomorrow!? *fingers crossed*
I've started preordering all SK's new releases in order to have first edition copies, as they are extremely hard to come by later on at reasonable prices. Should be getting this one this week!
Teresa wrote: "I've started preordering all SK's new releases in order to have first edition copies, as they are extremely hard to come by later on at reasonable prices. Kandice wrote: "Teresa wrote: "I've started preordering all SK's new releases in order to have first edition copies, as they are extremely hard to come by later on at reasonable prices. Some of his first editions are fairly reasonably priced; I recently obtained Desperation, Dreamcatcher, and a few others, but try to get The Shining or Salem's Lot in a first edition? Sadly, no. But it does make for a fun time searching for them in antique malls/flea markets. So far, no luck.

"About the Book:
"Wake up, genius." So begins King's instantly riveting story about a vengeful reader. The genius is John Rothstein, a Salinger-like icon who created a famous character, Jimmy Gold, but who hasn't published a book for decades. Morris Bellamy is livid, not just because Rothstein has stopped providing books, but because the nonconformist Jimmy Gold has sold out for a career in advertising. Morris kills Rothstein and empties his safe of cash, yes, but the real treasure is a trove of notebooks containing at least one more Gold novel.
Morris hides the money and the notebooks, and then he is locked away for another crime. Decades later, a boy named Pete Sauberg finds the treasure, and now it is Pete and his family that Bill Hodges, Holly Gibney, and Jerome Robinson must rescue from the ever-more deranged and vengeful Morris when he's released from prison after thirty-five years.
Not since Misery has King played with the notion of a reader whose obsession with a writer gets dangerous. Finders Keepers is spectacular, heart-pounding suspense, but it is also King writing about how literature shapes a life—for good, for bad, forever."
