I have exciting news!! Miles Cameron, author of The Traitor Son Cycle, has graciously offered to join our discussion of the series!! Woohoo! Thank you, Mr. Cameron!

For now, please post questions for Mr. Cameron here, in this topic thread, along with anything else related to the series on which you would like him to comment.

If your questions contain spoilers, please use the html to hide them. (Click on the "some html is ok" link and the directions for how to hide spoilers will appear in the box.)

In addition, you may ask about his other books, his writing process, or any other questions you may have.

Thank you again to Miles Cameron!

Edited to add that the beginning of the month is busy for the author so it may be a week or so before he is able to participate.

Question re: Book 1 (The Red Knight)—really, why so many POV characters? It was very difficult to follow for at least the first half of the book.

Kevin | 64 comments Why is your fantasy name different than your fiction name?

message 4: by Chris (new)

Chris | 3 comments Hello! This is Miles Cameron. On Goodreads I’m actually known by my real name; Christian. The Miles linked above is someone else...

message 5: by Chris (new)

Chris | 3 comments My fantasy name is different from my historical fiction (true) name b cause Gollancz wanted it that way. Not my choice!

message 6: by Chris (new)

Chris | 3 comments All the POVs are a technique; first, to show the complexity of the world second, it’s about entanglement; as the books go on and the contending dragons (spoiler) become entangled, you’ll see fewer POVs

Oops, sorry! I knew you wrote under both names but did not realize the Miles Cameron author link was incorrect.

And welcome to our group and discussion! We are very excited to have you join us as we read and discuss the Traitor Son Cycle.

I have a question about the world... I am currently reading The Fell Sword, and am very grateful for the maps. There is a definite European sense to the books, and yet they are not quite Europe, which makes sense since this is a fantasy series.

Could you talk a bit about the world-building? Did you start with Great Britain/Europe in mind? Did the plot dictate how you developed the world, or did the world influence what happened in the plot?

Thanks.

Hoping the author will stop in again, but regardless, I want to thank him for writing such an excellent series and for joining our discussion for at least a little while!

I am not sure the author is checking in. I have sent him a couple messages, but real life may be getting in the way of him continuing his participation here.
