So I am going to to crazy busy this month. Sounds like Sans is too. Scores but be slow in coming but we will do them. Luckily this whole group is fairly laid back still. :) I finally get to read The Toll with Bookbuyer this month! YAY!!!
This will be the first year we don't put up a Christmas tree. :(
With the new pup getting into so much when we aren't home I don't want to come home to a disaster after work. Training older pups is hard! So much easier to start young!

Speaking of the Toll I will be late. I got caught up in
and didn't realized it was the 27th. 🤦♀️ I will be starting Scythe today. Sorry!
Starting young is hard too! lol. Sorry, you can't put up a tree. Maybe you could do a small ornamental like one? Somewhere higher up? Speaking of training we might have found the solution to Ruby's crazy barking. 🎉🎉🎉

Training can be hard period but I have found the younger dogs are easier since their ways are not yet bad habit. Like in our case he lived out on the street so he has a wandering habit of leaving the yard (he can jump the fence!) and his abuse history has him terrified of certain objects like any kind of cords.
We have a small Charlie Brown Christmas treee we will put up lol. Plus decor like blankets, pillows etc still.
Barking training is almost a lost cause in our neighborhood but if you've got something that is working great! What is it?
How is Ruby's training going otherwise? Is her leg impacting her training at all?

It was mostly a lost cause for us a well because our neighbours dog is very vocal. (He’s a rescue and has been teaching Ruby to bark)We have only started it today so I’m not sure how it will work in the long run but what we are doing is saying ‘speak’ when she barks. And ‘quiet’ when she stops and then praising her and giving her treats. You have to wait for like 10 sec of quiet or they will think you are rewarding the barking. It’s worked well so far. Sometimes you have to wait like 1-2 min but overall it’s working.
The iPod cut part of the comment but I think you were asking if her leg was better or effecting her training? Her leg is a lot better. I’m not as confident it will ever be 100% again but it’s like 90%?
We are not doing a well with active training but we are working on passive training.
Hey all! Yes, I'm going to be slow to post scores (still, sorry, post New Years will be a bit slower for me). I was out of town for Thanksgiving and will be traveling for a week mid-December. It'll be my first trip in...six years? that won't involve me bringing my laptop and working the entire time. Finally, a proper vacation!

Our neighborhood dogs are barkers too. Hard to teach your dog not to when they can hear 6+ other dogs going off at everything. Oddly enough the pup does better than our older dog on this.

Training is training as long as there is some progress here and there. :) No need to rush it all.

Ooh glad you get a vacation. Take your time :)

So I am sick-again. I just can't seem to get fully healthy to rebuild my immune system. And it is only the beginning of winter! This can be bad for me... I know I am barely reading. Too exhausted all the time.
On the plus we finally put up a holiday wreath and holiday blanket and pillows are on the couch! So a bit of holiday cheer in the home.
How is everyone else doing? Any fun holiday plans? Or pushes to finish reading goals? Loving or hating your weather?

Sounds really festive! 🎄
Surprisingly I must have a super-strong immune system as I am almost never sick. Even with Ruby and going out more I'm still healthy as a horse. lol.
On really good news I can now say that Ruby kind of knows two trained commands (bring it, and pick it [up]) for her service dog training. They are still in the initial stages. But she was able to do some of them on her walk so we are making definite progress. Before it was literally only in the house. She doesn't do well with distractions. Also her second I just taught her today.
My agoraphobia is coming back... It's not helping that I think the coyote activity in our neighbourhood is getting a bit more worrisome. Mostly sounds. But I'm terrified to let Ruby out a night now even on a leash in our fenced backyard.

I would hate to be stressed over that! Do they do anything about coyotes if they get into neighborhoods? My dad used to get them on the outskirts of town back in Nevada but they were good about quickly dealing with them if they ever came too close (like actual sightings of them).

To anyone who missed it, all 4 challenges are up. We need more participants (especially the pick it and monthly challenge) or we have to cancel them. If you are re-participating in the pick it again, please let me know. So far it's just Jenny.

The problem is that while I'm in a city neighborhood we also have A LOT of green area around us so it's kind of the coyote's territory. I think I've only seen a coyote once so I'm not super worried but my brain is trying to tell me an attack is imminent.

I'm back in town finally! It was really nice to get away and not pick up my laptop for a week. I didn't get much reading done other than catching up on some comic books I'd taken with me, but I'm ready to start pulling my weight here!

Sad you won't be joining for more but I get it. So many challenges, so little times.

Post those comics for the challenge. We need points lol. We got our butts kicked in this verses challenge. I read so little compared to what I thought I'd read. And we got more participants than expected which was GREAT!

I have the one in YA and three in CC. I think only one here? (GENRE)

Wow. Its been a long time since I have gotten that into a series. But it is great when you enjoy something so much too.

It's really good but I wish I could move on to other books. :)
Skip Beat was like that for me for a while too. Mostly because I always wanted a fresh start since it takes so long to translate.
Beth wrote: "Anna 'Bookbuyer' wrote: "Jamie wrote: "Anna 'Bookbuyer' wrote: "My agoraphobia is coming back... I think the only thing that would help would be either seeing one and being fine or knowing with 100% certainty they weren't around.
I guess a good question is does the rocks in a can thing work?

Yeah, I tend to restart that about every 8-12 months once a few volumes have come out. Then I catch up, wait for a couple vols to publish ans start over again lol.

Same. lol. It can take a while to finish now too as it's up to 45 or something volumes. :)
Maybe 46. The volumes have somewhere around 6-8 chapters each and there are 12 that are not yet in a 'volume' or 'tankoubon' as they are called in Japanese.Speaking of chapters a new one is supposed to come out tomorrow. I expect it will probably be new years before the English is translated though as the holidays will slow it down. I HOPE it will be before Christmas but I'm not holding my breath.
Oh, and Ruby got groomed today! It went well apparently. She was actually napping there so I'm happy about that. I'm a little worried that they didn't do exactly as I asked though as I was clear I didn't want her anal glads done (just saying that grosses me out) or her nails but her nails were done. I don't know if I want to google about her butt stuff to know if it was done....
I have a new word to add to my vocabulary now. :)
Yeah I still have to get my hands on 43 and then go from there. It's a duel-edge sword. The further I am, the more I want, the less patient I am, so I have to force pace myself.

Me too. I got it from Wikipedia though so it might not be the right word. :P
It kills me to have to wait and I at least get the scanlated volumes. It's at such a critical point now that I have to force myself to forget about them after I read them or I would go crazy waiting the hole month.

One thing I am happy about having short haired, large dogs. You don't get them groomed. Well, except for nails.
I don't want to know about butt grooming either.

You definitely don't want to know about the butt thing.

Probably. Although I think even around volume 42 things were getting exciting. I don't remember anymore. lol.
Rocks in a can does work BUT coyote packs can be on the spectrum of shy to aggressive. If they’re more skittish, they will be long gone before you can lob the can near them. If they’re more aggressive, the can thrown near them often enough should dissuade them (gotta do it more than once).

But if may be skittish enough that it runs away when it sees you. Here's hoping!
