Classic Trash discussion

This topic is for those who wish to discuss the book in progress. No spoilers please!

I got the book from my library today and am a quarter of the way through it. I like the writing style - cozy, but not too cutesy. There is an element of danger to the story, which makes you want to see how things will work out.

Right at the outset of the story you know that the father of the mouse family had died, so you also know that's a possibility for other members of this family. I like that the author, although writing this book for children, isn't afraid to bring up such a hard subject. He knows that kids this age can handle it.

I am about halfway through, and super enjoying it. It's as good as I remember from my childhood.
