"Tarkin" is fantastic. It left me wanting more. Tarkin himself is well developed, and the interactions between him and Vader add a great deal of dimension to their relationship. The book surprised me by introducing a group of rebels into the mix, and they were well developed as well. Overall a great read. This, along with "A New Dawn," makes me think the canonical Star Wars books are headed in the right direction.
My opinion of the book changed a bit after trudging through the last few chapters... the Vader and Tarkin crazy chase across the galaxy was a bit too much.
I know this is late but... (There's always a but) I really enjoyed Tarkin and Vader's excellent adventure. I thought putting Tarkin in the role of an obsessive Sherlock Holmes. Tarkin's musings on the identity of Vader was cool. The duo worked great together and Vader's eventual opening up to Tarkin was believable. We know how Palpatine seduced Skywalker and now we know he brought Tarkin into the fold. This has been the first SW book I've read in 20 years... Good times
