Courtney (courty15) | 3 comments I just finished The Downstairs Girl, by Stacey Lee. If you love historical fiction that is female-story-centric, I think you should give it a try. I was immediately drawn in, and it gets lots of starred reviews at places like Publisher's Weekly and Kirkus. It is about Jo, a Chinese American young woman living in 1890s Atlanta. I particularly loved that it's about a girl doing what she can with what she has, but there's something for everyone: family secrets, a sassy outspoken heroine, a dash of danger, and a little romance, too.
