Please do not merge them into NOT A BOOK. Some of these changes need to be reverted.

We don't actually change the author names from one language to another. Instead, we add the non-English name as the secondary author. (It will look like there are two authors on the book.)

So for this example:

We would have the correct English name first and the Tamil name second on however many editions there are.

Secondary author will have a separate page. The book entries will be different then. There are not enough librarians to constantly check on books in the Tamil language. :(

That's why we can add links to the corresponding author's page, as you did in some of these.
The book will be linked to *both* author profiles if both of the names are listed.

Emily, is writing the book title in dual language as இளங்கோவடிகள் [Ilangovadigal] correct?

I thought it is only the 'original title' in the work settings should be in the native language.

Here's the relevant part of the manual:

Transliteration

If a title is given in non-roman characters (kanji, Cyrillic script, etc.) and a transliteration in roman characters is available, the transliteration can be placed in square brackets after the title and any subtitle; this is optional. Do not provide a translation in the title field.

Examples of transliterations:
エア・ギア 1 [Ea Gia 1] (Air Gear #1)
Дверь в лето [Dverʹ v leto]
夏への扉 [Natsu e no tobira]

I thought I had explained all this. Please DO NOT merge/delete or NAB author profiles in different languages! (And some of these have followers, too!)

Users must be able to find the authors in the database the way they are written on the covers.

Please do not do this. As long as the correct author profile is not claimed, incorrect names should be merged into the correct profile.

I have merged them already. But the empty page still exists.

Then you haven't merged them. Merging author profiles is immediate.

But please, DON'T merge author profiles, unless you are absolutely sure they are incorrect (such as this one: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...)
