Me, either, Charlene, but once I thought about it, it made so much sense. Look at how we’ve shifted to low pressure toilets these days. I’d imagine their systems were overwhelmed.
This is why I always love the bits about Hero's work and the interviews she does with the poor. I always learn so much about a side of Regency life that you don't often get in the Jane Austenized depiction of the era. Just the thought of having to do the job of Hole Man to empty out all the privies...ugh. And yet it was 100% needed. Also the poor folks who had to make their living picking up dog poop - and that some people did it sans glove!
The historical facts included in these stories is one of the important elements of this series, in my opinion. I’ve learned SO much.
