Comic books -- what are your favs? Which one are you going to use for this challenge?

Melissa (holeyhearted) | 18 comments I don't typically read comic books, so struggled for a bit trying to figure this one out. I happened to come across souvenirs from my last trip to Cali, and I'd bought a comic book version of Escape From Alcatraz. I haven't seen it since I unpacked, so it's not even open yet. :)

I would recommend Kate Beaton, Sarah Anderson, Jeph Jacques, Bill Waterson, Simon Tofield, Gary Larson, Jim Davis, or Jerry Scott

I personally consider them to be different, to me a graphic novel is more like an illustrated novel, there is one plot line from beginning to end. A comic book is a collection of comic strips, and they rarely have a plot that lasts longer than two strips. But I spoke to a librarian and she said the two are confused for each other so often that they are basically interchangeable.

This also breaks down Comic Books, Graphic Novels, and Manga a bit

Carol (cquan01) | 612 comments The last comic I read was probably an Archie comic! I am sure I can find one somewhere.

I think it depends. There are differences, but I would count something that started as a webcomic, for example, as a comic book.
