John Mancino | 5 comments Utopia, by Sir Thomas More, has a unique literary structure in order to serve it's primarily philosophical purpose. Most of the story, in fact, is entirely exposition told as a story from the perspective of it's main character named Hythloday. Hythloday comments on the flaws of his English society in the year 1516, and uses the fictional land of Utopia (which literally means no-place from Greek) to suggest some ways in which those problems could practically and ethically be solved. Through what few actions he does take throughout the book, his character is revealed to be especially wise and generous towards all people, traits which Thomas More himself clearly values.

If you had visited a perfect society, what would you do to help your culture develop toward that perfection?

Logan Moon | 5 comments It makes you wonder if a perfect society could be possible in any instance. In almost every scenario, there's always something that ruins the prospect of a utopia. Whether it be corruption, general injustice, or straight-up evil, I believe that there's nothing that can be done to create a perfect society anywhere on Earth.
