🌹The Bachelor Team Challenge - Round 3🌹🌹Theme - First Love🌹
The dates will begin on Saturdays at 6 PM EST, at that time the task for each date will be announced. Books must be completed and posted by the following Friday at Midnight EST, except when on your 'DestinationDate' when you will have until the second Friday. Roses will be awarded before the next date begins. Each date we will be working towards spelling out B-A-C-H-E-L-O-R. The tasks for each letter will be posted in advance, but you will not know which task will be used until the date begins.
Roses are earned by:
🌹 The First Rose 🌹 Teams earn this rose by reading 4 books fitting the task during the date. (One rose possible per team per date.)
Bonus roses may be earned by:
🌹 Speed Dating Rose 🌹 The team that finishes has 4 members finishing 4 books (1 each) and posts in the Q&A/Announcement thread first wins this bonus rose. Note, posting is required to earn this rose. (One rose possible per date.)
🌹 Team Dating Rose 🌹 Teams with each member completing the task (with a minimum of 6 books read) earn this additional rose. (One rose possible per team per date.)
🌹 Serial Dating Rose 🌹 For every multiple of 8 books read, teams will earn a rose. So 8 books is one rose, 16 books is 2 roses, 24 books is 3 roses and so on. (Number of roses will vary each date.)
🌹 Multiple Date Rose 🌹 The player who reads the most books for the date earns this bonus rose for their team. (One rose possible per date unless there is a tie.)
🌹 Longest Date Rose 🌹 The player that reads the longest book for the date earns this bonus rose for their team. (One rose possible per date unless there is a tie.)
🌹 Page Turner Rose 🌹 The team that reads the most combined pages for the date, English language editions only for page count, earns this bonus rose. (One rose possible per date unless there is a tie.)
🌹 Scavenger Hunt Rose 🌹This special rose is earned by finding a book that fits each rule for the letter the date represents, for example B is for Big Apple (set in NYC), Body Art (tattoo on cover), Beginning (first in series/trilogy) and Beach (beach on cover or setting with beach). After posting your completion, post in the Q&A thread. This rose may be earned multiple times per date but only once per book. The first person to post each book claims the rose for that book, other books could earn it though. (Number of roses available per date will vary.)
Teams will not be eliminated even if they earn no roses, they will have a chance to catch up by earning additional roses on other dates. Players will be eliminated if they do not complete the task on two consecutive dates. Eliminated players will not be replaced. Remember, players are allowed to read multiple books for a given date in order to earn bonuses and/or to make up for teammates who do not read their book or who have been eliminated.

Although you will not need to make selection posts like in the PtP, your teammates might like ideas for what to read so sharing what you're reading could be very helpful. If you have any question if your book qualifies, it would be better to find out before you read it - ask your teammates or in the Q&A/Announcement thread.
DO NOT DELETE COMMENTS OR POSTS! Even if your book doesn't qualify or you are asked for corrections, do not delete your comment. Deleted comments will confuse the tracking and may lead to books being missed! If you wish, you may strike through your comment using < s > ... < /s > without the spaces, but do not delete the comment or post!
🌹The Bachelor Team Challenge - Round 3🌹🌹Theme - First Love🌹
Books must be a minimum of 90 pages and MPG Romance. Contemporary Romance, Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance or similar is acceptable, but it must be romance. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS on the MPG Romance rule. Audiobooks and rereads are ok. Books can only be read once per person during the challenge even if it fits multiple categories. Once the task for the date is announced, you may not tag a book so that it fits or edit any lists - this must be done before the date begins.
MPG = Main Page Genre:
On the main page of the book on the right hand side there is a section that says "Genres". Anything listed under that section is counted as an MPG.
MPG Romance = Main Page Genre Romance:
In the "Genres" section described above, there must be 'Romance". It could be Contemporary Romance, Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance or MM Romance, but it has to have 'Romance' listed.
Completion PostsWhen making your completion posts, remember you must include how the book/s qualify. If the task states, for example (and this is just an example!):
A is for Athlete - Read a sports romance, qualification from the title, précis, list or tags.
Saying 'the hero is a runner' or 'MC is an athlete' doesn't qualify the book. Using 'précis states that hero is a football player' or 'tagged sports by 7 people' does qualify the book. Remember that links are required for lists, tags and different editions.
Also, when using the cover as the qualifier, post the cover image in your completion.
Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.
Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!
You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.

Hi everyone! I'm Kristen :) A little about me - recently divorced, crazy cat lady, reading is my only hobby. I pretty much only read M/F, but I'm down for any sub-genre. I'm Australian, but currently live in the the US. I'm actually going home for the holidays right in time for this challenge to start, so I won't be online as much as normal for those first 2 weeks.Speaking of, if you played last time, you might remember that it was kind of insane lol. So I'll just throw it out there that I am pretty laid back, but I'll go whichever direction you guys want to go... laid back read and play for fun, or speedy/lots of books. Up to you all. Except for the first round, I'm literally getting on a plane when the first task will be announced. I'll try and read on that first flight, but just wanting to let you all know that I might not be able to.
Okay, this round's theme is 'first love' - I am 0% creative, so if anyone else has any ideas for a team name, please don't hesitate to share lol. Here are some not so great ideas:

Hi all! I'm Jo. Live in the Bay Area (CA). My daughter is finishing her last year of college in Baltimore and my son lives with my ex in Atlanta, GA so we are all over the country. I travel quite a lot for my work. I read pretty much exclusively MM romance and this is my first time doing this challenge. Hoping to do all MM romance (except if lady on the cover is called for which I'll have to venture into MMF land).
I'm probably in between laid back and full throttle - happy to take the pace of the team but I play for fun and relaxation and do consider my real life job the most important thing (since it buys the books lol!)
I'm studying the rules so I will likely have questions (maybe many of them!).

Hi Everyone,I’m Louise from a currently very wet South Wales. I am a bit of a challenge addict and will read pretty much anything if it Fits. I have found some surprisingly good books in the hunt for the right book that will fit a number of challenges. Saying that I am pretty relaxed and read for pleasure. When the dates are announced I will likely be heading to bed which basically means the speec dating rose is usually won by the time I get up.
I am not very creative with team names but I do like Fran’s suggestion of: 4ever Together

I spend my free time writing fantasy and happy-ever-after romance, which, depending on how you look at it, might be the same thing. Hi! My name is Shandi, or Shandrea. I’m from Idaho and I live in a super small town of around 300. I am 28, married for 8 years with 4 children. An 8 year old, 6 year old, 4 year old, and a 2 year old. I work at our tiny local grocery store that my grandma owns, and I substitute teach all grades at the towns school. I’ve been working on getting my degree in criminal justice, specifically as a correctional officer/probation officer or either working with juveniles. My husband has been in the army for 10 years and our lives are chaos lol.This will be the first time doing something like this as a challenge, I usually only read when I have time, which isn’t often lol. But I am excited about this challenge and I’m committed. I’m laid back and I’ll probably have questions.
I’m fine with whatever name :)

I seen somewhere, I think was MKat, saying now is the time to add books to your self for the first date. Do we have to have them preselected before the first date?

So for example, the pregnancy one, if it's not in the title/description it has to be on a shelf or a list before the date starts.
So if it's already shelved by someone else, you're good. If it isn't, then you should do it now, so it shows up when the first date is called. You should only do it of course, if the book actually fits.
Does that make sense? I don't really use shelves like that myself, so I rely on other people tagging them what they are (shapeshifters, pregnancy, enemies to lovers, whatever). If you don't want to use shelves like that, you'll have to read a book that already qualifies.
Ok, so for another example, the 'dragon's nanny' book you just marked as to-read. The description (precis) says he is a dragon and then it says 'West Coast Water Dragons is a paranormal romance series about a bunch of very hot dragon shifters ' so you are covered there, BUT if it wasn't in the description, it would have to be on the shelves, which it isn't.
Also, very very important, it HAS to be main page romance.
So, using that dragon one as an example, see how it is not MPG romance? more people need to shelve it as 'romance' for it to come up on the main page.

if it WAS main page romance, you would then need to click on 'genres' on the main page, which will take you to all the shelves. this is where you would find the other descriptions we need to qualify, like pregnancy, baby, shapeshifters, whatever - if it didn't already qualify in the description.

No you’re perfect! I am also an over explainer lol I’ve been doing this on my good reads app and there are differences with the website that I’m starting to notice. I seen the genre romance for that book on the app but not on the website picture that you just posted so I’ll have to start working on the website instead of the app.. are there shelves that I can look at/choose from already? Pertaining to this challenge?
oh that's so weird about the app. i wonder why?as for shelves and whatnot that already exist, we can also use lists, so for the first week, it could be one of these tasks:
B is for Baubles - Read a book with jewelry on the cover.
B is for Blue - Read a book with a primarily blue cover.
we don't need lists/tags/precis info for either of these as they are purely on the cover. you could go through your shelves to find a blue cover, same with the jewellery one (as long as they are MPG romance of course).
i googled 'goodreads romance jewelry on the cover' (because that's how i search goodreads lol) and it came up with a few jewelry makers/pearls on the cover lists:

the lists with jewelry designers/makers/thief etc don't guarantee there will be jewelry on the cover, but it's a starting point if you don't find any on your own shelves.

You could of course go through your own books and click through the shelves to see if any of them have babies/pregnancy/children already tagged, but here are some lists:

I am 99% sure that any book on those lists would qualify (as long as it is MPG romance and at least... 90 pages) because the list name says baby/pregnancy/kid. It could of course also work if it's in the title or description.

Thanks for adding all of that!! I was trying to add some books to my shelves that were potentials. How do we tell how many pages there are? I read on Apple Books I’m not sure how to find out on good reads

so on the main page for the book on goodreads, there is a bunch of info. right under the description, it normally has a few links of where you can buy a book (amazon etc) and then under that, it says which edition and how many pages, when it was published. so you can use that info, even if you read on apple books.
i *believe* you can use the amazon page count if goodreads doesn't have a page count listed (like that dragon book, didn't have pages on goodreads but it did on amazon). i am 98% sure that's correct, but i can always check with MKat if needed.
Q: For shapeshifter does it have to have that word? I don't use that word myself. I categorize by type of paranormal character so have shelves for shifters but nothing that says "shapeshifter"I added a shapeshifter shelf (paranormal-shapeshifter) but do I have to put this on all my shifter books?
I have dog shifter, dragons, werewolves, etc. Just checking

Great. Thanks Kristen!Just a note ahead of time: I can find not a single Scavenger Hunt Book this letter due to the jewelry requirement. Plenty of others fit 3 but not 4. Because I don't read MF book it might be a miss for me this first go round. Unless any of you know of any MM books you aren't planning on reading that fit? If so PM me and I'll read them.
I could not find a single one in my nearly 10K books that met all 4.
I guess I could look at MMF ...maybe something in that. It's been years since I read one of these.

I'm probably just going to do whatever the task is, I'll try for SH books next time.Had a lot of issues with my flight today so now I am leaving earlier so I will be up in the air when the task is called :) So I'll be a few hours late, if someone else wants to share the task here once it is announced, go right ahead, otherwise I will when I land and get on wi-fi.
