The author uses the flashback device to tell the story of Adam & Summer. How effective was it in giving you a foundation for them as a couple and what almost severed their relationship? How was the timing of the transitions from the past to present day?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments It was the best use of flashback I've ever read. Their story was wonderful and heartbreaking. The transitions worked very well.

Laura I agree Anita, the flashbacks were pulled off so great. I was equally invested in past and present.

I put this question in here because I thought she got it perfect but didn’t know if it was just me loving the story. Those transitions seem to come at the right moments with just the things I needed to know at that moment.

She did get it perfect. I’m not a big fan of flashbacks, but their story really couldn’t be told without them.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments It's not just you, Jonetta. I thought this author did the past/present perfectly too. It needed to be told so that we could understand Summer and Adam more and it really succeeded.

It completely reshaped my opinion of Summer.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Absolutely changed my opinion of Summer too. The flashbacks made her so human and their desperation about their relationship so real.

That’s it exactly!
