The suspense aspect of the story began really quickly and consumed most of the book. Did the romance suffer? Why or why not?

This was almost all suspense, but there really wasn't any other way it would have worked. The romance was almost an afterthought on the downside of the climax.

It worked for me. What’s more romantic then a man racing against the clock desperate to save his woman? Not much.

I actually thought Cross found a way to bring that balance through the lovely transitions to the past and Adam’s race to find her. I just loved that scene where he figured out her hidden message in that video. So, while it was very suspenseful, their beautiful relationship found a way to shine through.

I agree. I felt the romance aspect through their backstory and then Adam doing everything he could to find her was beautifully written. The suspense was off the charts for me. This author accomplished both a romantic story combined with fantastic suspense.
