From the current Marvel comics, Doctor Aphra has to be my favorite. I like that they aren't super serious and that it doesn't follow the characters from the movies. That's not to say that I haven't enjoyed the Star Wars and Darth Vader series'. Aphra just gives fans an opportunity to explore some different areas of the universe and bring in some new characters.I've enjoyed a lot of the character mini-series books. The one off stories are better character explorations. Even when they kind of tie into the two main series, it is much easier to pick one of these up to read without feeling like you're missing out on something.
I remember reading comic adaptions of some of the (now Legends) novels that Dark Horse put out back in the day. Plus, there were some set in the Old Republic that focused on Jedi and were pretty cool. These are all ones I would have to go back to revisit to see if they hold up though.
2015 Star Wars run and Darth Vader run by Charles Soule, I’d also say the Vader run by Gillen is very good. For a standalone the Obi-Wan and Anakin comic is very underrated
I've been a hard-core Star Wars fan since forever. I've enjoyed too many of the comics to list them. But considering I really want to lock my copy of the following one in a safe, I must pick that one.https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
Do you mean the one I just posted, Scotty? Whenever I've looked to get another copy, it was so expensive--at one point, the cheapest one was $180!?I see there's a copy in "good" condition on Amazon for $53. I just don't know if good is good enough. I get suspicious after the time my husband bought me a dollhouse on ebay that was supposed to be "good" but smelled so badly of cigarettes, I had to throw it out, and an old herbal I read that I didn't think I'd ever be able to find a copy of--it stunk badly of mold when it was supposed to be in good condition from on Amazon.
I wish I could figure out which versions of Tales Of The Jedi are the actual digital version of this whole book, if there is a digital version. But the title for it has been reused so much and the Amazon pages will show different cover images--it's all very confusing. I've done research online before and could never get a definitive answer.
Marvel reprinted a ton of the Dark Horse comics when they took the license back as Epic Collections with the exact same contents. Not sure about this one specifically though. I hate when GR doesn't list the contents of a big collection like this.
According to AI, that collection you posted F.P. contains:Tales of the Jedi – The Golden Age of the Sith (Issues #0–5)
Tales of the Jedi – The Fall of the Sith Empire (Issues #1–5)
Tales of the Jedi: Knights of the Old Republic (Issues #1–5)
Those are split across 2 different epic collections. The first 2 miniseries are in Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: Tales of the Jedi, Vol. 2.
The last 5 issues are in Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Old Republic, Vol. 1 which has the first 18 issues of Knights of the Old Republic.
If you just care about reading them and not owning them, they are all on Marvel Unlimited as individual issues. Marvel has made most of the old Dark Horse Star Wars stuff available on MU.
Do you mean the stories inside it--the issues? I can post that in half an hour if you feel like being bothered trying to figure out this mess lol! Even Star Wars sites provided no help, but I didn't search via the issues inside it. I get suspicious of what I'm actually buying if something doesn't have the same cover....I don't want to put you out, especially on a weekend! Let me know. And thanks in advance if you want to help!
I must get some exercise right now. Be back later....
Just confirm that the 16 issues I listed are the one in the collection you have. Those came from AI and AI is often wrong. If those are correct, I posted where those issues can be found in the 2 collections above or as individual issues on Marvel Unlimited. MU is $70 for the year and you can read most of the Star Wars comics ever made. You just have to do a bit of research to match individual issues to a trade. The old Dark Horse trades can be a real pain to figure out what's in them and they didn't collect everything. It's much more haphazard. The Epic Collections Marvel made did a much better job of putting it all together in chronological order and making it easier to find. They also made Epic Collections of the Marvel Star Wars comics of the 70s and 80s which are fun to go back and read.
Thanks a bunch!!! But the AI is not exactly right, at least about the titles listed according to my copy...Here's what my collection says on the copyright page:
Star Wars Tales Of The Jedi: The Golden Age Of The Sith #0-5
Star Wars Tales Of The Jedi: The Fall Of The Sith Empire #1-5
Star Wars Tales Of The Jedi #1-5
I have no idea if this "Tales of the Jedi: Knights of the Old Republic (Issues #1–5) " is the same as this "Star Wars Tales Of The Jedi #1-5."
Why the HELL can't the comic companies just make this easier already lol! Just use completely UNIQUE or completely CLEAR issue names for every issue, every book, no repeats! I think that too many times the companies want people to mess up and duplicate or incorrectly buy, because the companies make more money that way....
I'll probably sign up to Marvel at some point, but, yeah, I really do want another print copy. I guess I might just have to wait longer and hope for some luck on that score....
Chad, I hadn't seen your post with the issues-list before when I posted my message #10. And maybe I should edit my GR review and explain why the print copy means the most to me. I'll see about that later....(Last edit to add: Ooops--I somehow posted something here I meant to post somewhere else lol--sorry about that if anyone saw it!)
Kara wrote: "We're less than a week from Rise of Skywalker! ..."What is that? Is it a comic? or a film?
Hi Ed, I thought Kara meant the film, although I could have sworn I just saw a comic version with that title when I was browsing....
If you meant me (?), I wasn't sure if there was a comic out first--or if they got the title from a prior comic about something else. When I first saw The Force Awakens, I immediately recognized some things inside it from SW comics, but they had nothing to do with the film.
I think those are all the same issues F.P. If I remember correctly, they added the Knights of the Old Republic to the title later on after the video game from the same Star Wars era got popular. Those original Dark Horse editions are going to be pricey because Disney is never going to allow those to be reprinted by Dark Horse again. They'll reprint the same comics in their Epic Collections so they can make the cash instead. If you just want to read the comics, those Epic Collections should be in print. If you need that specific edition, I'd keep checking around at every used book store you come across and eventually you'll probably find it. I forget, are you in the city? If so, maybe try The Strand.
Oh--I moved away from NYC/NYS years ago. But, yeah, I agree that I will have to do some searching all over. I check online every once in a while to see if I can find one that sounds like it's in very good condition at a more reasonable price. I will be happy enough with the digital versions for me to read and then I can baby my print copy forever, maybe even buy it some new baby clothes lolll. Thanks a bunch for the info about the title difference--and all your help with this!
I updated my review of this book to do that explaining that I mentioned here. It's at the top of my profile right now if anyone wants to take a look.Edit--here's the link to my review:

I've had to manage doing a bunch of things today, and I just couldn't post that before--I'm too all over the place right now. I feel like I've done too much gabbing today. Oh well.
I've checked my IRL comics and I have two Epic Collections--but those aren't the ones in discussion here. However, I did have that Vol 2 Tales Of The Jedi on my to-buy list, and the sample of Vol 1 on my kindle. At some point, I hope to get that whole series. The Kindle version of Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Old Republic Vol. 1 is actually kind of epensive (for me), but it's also in Kindle Unlimited.
I did once borrow this awesome SW comic with Poe Dameron, but I need to figure out which one it is; I think there was a prison break in it, and, if I'm remembering correctly, it somehow had a Dirty Dozen vibe. It was a strange fun comic that I really enjoyed.

I do remember it being about his time with Rogue Squadron.
F. P. wrote: "I have Poe Dameron: Age Of Resistance to read--is that the one you mean?"No, that was a series of one shots about a variety of different characters.
I'm speaking about this series that took place right before The Force Awakens. And it wasn't Rogue Squadron, it was Black Squadron.

That's the one with the prison-break comic--at least the one I think it is above, #21. I can't see enough of the sample of it on Amazon to tell. Amazon lists them all here too: www. amazon .com/dp/B07JKJR93P?binding=kindle_edition&ref_=saga_dp_bnx_dsk_sdp&qid=1779567340&sr=8-1I never read all of them.
