Trike The new Christopher Nolan movie is Tenet.

Trailer: https://youtu.be/LdOM0x0XDMo

He really likes starting decades off with weird mindjobs, don’t he?

2000: Memento
2010: Inception
2020: Tenet

MadProfessah (madprofesssah) | 775 comments Nice catch on the pattern! And the first two are some of my favorite films!!

Lowell (schyzm) | 579 comments Ok, I just streamed it...

And wow, it’s pretty, but WOW anyone familiar with SF time-travel stories is going to know pretty much every part of what’s going on by the end of the first act.

At least the answer wasn’t time traveling through the magic of love.... sigh.

Phrynne I enjoyed it. However it is pretty much the only decent new movie to open in Australian cinemas since the outbreak of COVID. Here in Sydney they keep telling us it is safe to go to the cinema but what's the point if there is nothing good to watch!

Jemppu | 1735 comments Oh, just now noticing a Tenet thread: loved the movie. Saw it in theaters earlier last year in between stricter lockdowns. Excellently unique time jumping thriller. In a wonderfully Nolanesque manner, of course.

It was extra trippy seeing such local names / scenery on screen in a big budget Hollywood movie, with Tallinn - our cousins across the gulf - being one of the key locations.

(Also, a police officer named "Teppo" has remained in mind as an amusingly stand-out detail in the car chase sequence; comical for its mundanity akin to something like "Bob").

Oh, yes. Theirs had to be the juiciest of the roles.

I actually didn't mind the loud soundtrack as much as I'm sure many did; the overpowering volume of it added to the intensity, and the subtitles must've served an occasional unconscious aid to following the most obscured dialogue.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 18 comments The dialogue being constantly covered up was a huge annoyance for me. I didn't mind the music, just that it drowned out everything else.

I also didn't think the movie established emotional connections with the characters and I found myself over it. Because despite the unique take, it was predictable.

I will give it to Nolan for always coming up with such unique ways of storytelling and concepts. I'm curious what his next project will be.

The booming soundtrack extremely irritating. The same with 'Dark'. Great series, but it was difficult enough to follow without all the grating music. Filmmakers need to tone it down so we can follow their stories better.
