PD James, credited with modernizing the classic British mystery novel, has died at the age of 94.

Ms. James' first novel Cover Her Face was published in 1962. She created Scotland Yard detective Adam Dalgliesh. Her moat famous novels are Death Comes to Pemberley and The Children of Men. PD James remained with the same publisher, Faber & Faber, for 50 years.

Yes, I was sad to hear the news. She was a great lady: witty and astute with a keen, inquiring mind and a seemingly unending passion for writing.
