I am so excited about this challenge. What a coincidence, as I am curreently finishing short novels from Thomas Mann, picked up from the library Homecoming from Bernhard Schlink this week, and received few books from Stefan Zweig for Christmas from my family. So really I feel this challenge is for me...I am really excited Melanie !!!!

Maybe I missed a part aber ich habe eine Frage: some participants have already listed some titles. Do we post the books before hand oder after we have actually read them? How to differentiate? Thank you

It's up to you. You can first post a TBR, and later post the read books. Or you can only post the books you've read. (Of course it's always nice for other people to see what you're planning on reading, but we don't want to pressure people into posting a tbr!)
Hi, Mel, Britta and everyone else!I wanted to read The Deruga Trial but the only copies I can get are very expensive! Any thoughts? I don't have a Kindle, but a Nook, and this book is not available in that format, except in German, which I can't read. I will keep looking at the recommendations of everyone and hope to find another crime novel.

Ah, thats a pity! Two suggestions for crime novels, a classic The Jews' Beech (publ. 1842) and a contemporary one: The Murder Farm (rather dark, though).
Kristin wrote: "I just found The Murder Farm for my Nook. Thanks for your help, Britta!"Glad to hear it!
When I unterstand, only german (language) books, with an English translaten are past of the challange?
Johanna wrote: "When I unterstand, only german (language) books, with an English translaten are past of the challange?"Books, originally written in German. You can read them in the original, but you can also read it in any translation that you like.
That is clear. But, has the book been translated in English? Because I read a lot of germanbooks, which are only in german.
Johanna wrote: "That is clear. But, has the book been translated in English? Because I read a lot of germanbooks, which are only in german."No, it does not have to be translated into any language. But if you know of any translation, be it English, French etc, it would be nice if you mentioned it somewhere in your thread, so others, who read translations, might find it in their chosen language.
Hi everyone! I'm also challenging myself to read only books that I already own. I moved recently and it really hit me how ridiculous my stacks of unread books have become. I do have a bunch of books by German authors (translated into English), so I'm happy to dive in. I'm going to choose the number 12 for no particular reason. I still have Go, Went, Gone right near the top of a stack because I meant to read it last year but didn't get to it. I think I'll start with that.
Hi everyone! I'm new to the group . I'm wondering, do you ever conduct Zoom meetings so discuss books, or is it strictly in written threads? So excited to be part of this!
Hi Johanna, Erpenbeck is one of my favourite German authors. It's not my favourite book of hers, but I really liked it.
Not sure which thread's the best place to post this or how many people are affected by their 'Home' feeds not updating, mine stopped dead several hours ago, but got some news that the issue’s been recognised and being sorted out, it was posted in one of my other groups.“The GR Help answer to the current problem of home page not updating -
"Hi Goodreaders! We apologize for the trouble with this. The issue has been reported and our developers will be working to fix the issue. Thanks for your patience."
