Those who unnecessary spam or repeatedly trouble other readers in any way will be listed here for public knowledge of their deeds.

There were close to a 40 members who joined en-masse in the last couple of weeks and voted for a book (rigged the poll) in one of our group read polls. All of them were identified, deleted and banned from joining the group in future.

really disappointing to see people indulging in such cheap tactics..this bunch of people did the same thing in another group as well

In cyber world, anonymity and ease of creating multiple personalities, provide these kind of dubious opportunities to sick people.
Btw, I think, we all group members should compliment our moderators for superb job in observing anomalies and identifying miscreants. It is a great example of moderatorship . It proves your involvement , sense of ownership and Vigilance. Keep it up.

There's a comment box to describe why the post is spam, and also another check where GR asks if you're sure. Hopefully, that will minimize problems.

Many thanks to the Col. for being always present and always vigilant, keeping an eye on everything. To be frank, the recent rig of the polls is quite a complicated one and we would probably have brushed it aside if it isn't the Col. looking at it. We even notified another group's moderator where the same bunch of 40 ppl have rigged another poll to make their book win. Sadly, that moderator couldn't see through this and didn't agree with us.

Oh dear. That sounds rather bad. 40 people is rather a lot! People never fail to amaze me. Perhaps we need to be ruled by robots!

Mercy, who mercilessly flooded our group with about a dozen promos, has been warned via personal message, and then removed from the group...
I feel bad to warn or remove people, but then some occasions demand it for the smooth running of the group.

I haven't noticed any promos or even the name Mercy. I hope this is not a Senior Moment on my part!

I was busy removing her posts which flooded even harmless game threads, and group book discussion threads... amounted to 10 or so in number. Finally got fed up and put up this warning.

Seriously, people don't understand that they're damaging their own (book's) prospects, when they go overboard n spam like this.

I came to know from a few members that Rajesh and Sunil Sinha, friends of the author of Guruji's Ashram are sending messages to readers asking to vote for book/read the book.
I am not sure whether this borders upon infringements of a group's right
We do like young [AND GOOD] authors coming up. But if a book is publicized to this extent, doesn't it deter the purpose of a group?
What are the rights and wrongs? Let readers decide
I will confer with the other moderators and see what action has to be taken.
Earlier we had an author and her gang who joined Indian Readers who rigged the polls in a different manner.
I have given Rajesh benefit of doubt at least a couple of times.
Am pretty ruffled. Let us think with a cool head and see what to do
In the meanwhile the moderators of the group apologize to genuine readers and upcoming authors who are decorous enough in not trying to exploit a group and its readers.

Is this just enthusiasm gone wrong? But it rubs people the wrong way...

Haven't got any message, but then my privacy settings are stringent, only friends can send me messages. Btw I think Sunil Sinha is the author of the book, not author's friend... Am not sure if sending messages can be regarded as rigging because ultimately the members decide whether to vote for the book or not... But I do understand that it can be inconvenient for the members if every new author starts sending messages like that... Promotions are best left in the promotions folder i think...
