Got to Book Two today! Had some time to read. It’s an interesting start and I’m definitely liking it so far.
Of course, I usually like most dystopian books. Hahaha

Awesome, Ginger! I went into this completely blind without reading anything about the plot, so it’s all fresh. I’m liking this start also. I’m only about half way to book 2 but hope to get there by tomorrow.

I’ve made it up to book 5, ch1. I’m really enjoying this. There are a lot of subplots just hinted at that keep me wanting to read forward to see where they go. (view spoiler)[ Such as the part with the Marlboro Man and his precognition. At first, I was angry that Jacob and the crew showed up at the house at the moment that Harper just happens to be there. I was like, No Way would that happen - until we get the precognition idea. Very cool! The storyline of Sarah in the fire also is intriguing. (hide spoiler)] I’m definitely caught up in this story.

Yes, those are the two big questions we need answers to. I think (view spoiler)[ that it’s either Carol or Allie, but I wouldn’t bet on either. Joe is doing a good job of making me lean a certain way but being very unsure about it. (hide spoiler)]

Yeah, lots of interesting themes in this book. I’m really hating (view spoiler)[Carol and this camp. They are f’ing crazy. I feel like it has tendencies of Lord of the Flies. And it all starts with crazy f’ed up Carol. (hide spoiler)]

I bet so too. John sure has his quirks, though too. There are some more pieces of his story we need to get still to figure him out.

I got to Book 7, Chapter 14 today.
My biggest questions are whether (view spoiler)[Carol really is the one stealing stuff and tried to kill Father Tom. It's almost like Hill wants us to believe that but I'm so paranoid of people's intentions that I could easily see someone else doing it.
Plus, do we really think John will help out, save everyone and leave? It sounds like he's so obsessed with that fire and Sarah who's got to be in the fire that I'm not sure of his intentions either.

Plus, I think Harper's ex and the Cremation Crews might kill them all before they can escape. I don't think Harper having that "vision" of Nick bringing them into the camp might not be a fantasy. (hide spoiler)]

I’m at the same point. I’m also on board with everything you said there ( and it’s fun to speculate!). I’m afraid of those things you mention, too. (view spoiler)[ if I had to guess, I think Carol is the one stealing stuff. She knows how important each item was to the person she stole it from, and it forced action the way she wanted it to go. Also, it makes sense that Father Tom would have left with her also.

On the Fireman, I agree, I don’t see him leaving. If anything, I see him sacrificing himself in some way to save the others.

I do expect Harper will learn to control the fire and use it to help save them when Jakob shows up, and we know he will as I think the dream she had was a premonition as well. I think it’s not going to be good for the camp as a whole in the end. (hide spoiler)]

It's been a weird week with snow/ice and working at home. I "have" to look somewhat productive. Hahaha

I am finished the book. It is amazing! Thrilling until the very end!

The rest was spectacular. I hated some characters like Carol and Jacob, loved others like John and Nick, loved/hated Nurse Willowes. It was a nice mixture. I didn't like Harper at the beginning. She was so weak and dependent on Jacob. I ended up loving her.

I think it was a very optimistic ending.
