Cronyism: Just like nepotism, but with old time friends instead of family ties. Probably this would qualify: Charles Winchester III gets a job at Wellcheatyou Inc., a million-dollar firm, because daddy knows a member of the board from back in the day when they both used to be a part of Rich-Kids-Only Secret Society at FSU (Fancy Schamcy University) in 1965. Even if Winchester Jr. didn't quiiiite get his degree, he's probably the best for the job. Right? ;)I came across this word in The Super-Rich Shall Inherit the Earth, a book stuffed full off references and words I don't usually come across. This reminds me that I should really get back to it, I got sidetracked by library reads among other things, so am still only at Ch. 1 lol! Seems like a really important and intereseting book so far though.
Actually, I had to check out where the Isle of Dogs was, mentioned as a location in post-apocalyptic Final Blackout.♥,

Hi Cat, welcome to the group!Self-promotion is not allowed here (as stated here in the Rules and Info). I do not know if this was meant as self-promotion or not, but seeing how you're the publisher and as the post doesn't fit the thread description (and as it's your first and so far only post here), I thought I'd make sure you were aware so as to avoid possible future misunderstandings :)
Sauce-box (or saucebox): a saucy, impudent, personThis is a word I found in Pamela. Or, Virtue Rewarded by Samuel Richardson. It's from 1740, and this word is no longer in use, but I just laughed out loud the first time I read it. It's probably my favorite word now and I can't help but chuckle every time I see it lol :)
