Welcome to the group! The Challenges are just way to have a little more fun with our reading...and a great way to find more books to read!
Thank you for the welcome! I wanted to try out the challenge so that maybe I can discover new series/authors I may not have tried, and also to get some ideas from what others are reading.
-One from culinary (anything dealing with food: restaurants,
baked goods, etc.)
4 Stars
This is my first book for the reading challenge. This is the first book in the series, and a new author for me. I did very much enjoy this book. I found the MC to be a like able character, I enjoyed the standard small town environment, and the baking was a nice touch. The mystery was good and had me quite stumped, going back and forth on who I thought was the culprit. This series will definitely be going on my list of ones that I want to continue reading.
- One historical mystery (any mystery not set in the present)
5 Stars
This is the 4th book in one of my favorite series. I enjoyed this one as much as the previous ones and I am looking forward to reading the next two. I would highly recommend this series, the mysteries are intriguing, and there is a lot of funny moments that I really enjoy that lightens up the story a bit. I also like the time period that these are set in, it adds a little something extra.
- One career-based cozy mystery (housekeeping, wedding planner, etc.)
5 Stars
The newest installment in one of my absolute favorite cozy mystery series. I loved it and wish I didn’t have to wait so long for the next.
- One from cozy mysteries based outside the US (example: Belinda Lawrence series (British))
2 Stars
First book in the series. This one was just ok, not great. I found the family relationships to be a little strange, as well as some of the dialogue. Some of the events or mysteries that were revealed seemed a little out there to me. I was interested enough to finish the book, but I don't think I will continue with this series.
-One from animal related (cats, dogs, birds, etc.)
4 Stars
This is the series that started it all for me, the first cozy mystery I ever read. I had never even heard of the genre before. I saw the second book in this series at a bookstore while I was on vacation. I looked it up as soon as I got home, borrowed it from the library and fell in love. I will always have a soft spot for these characters and their stories.
- One from craft related (any kind of hobbies - knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, etc.)
5 Stars
Loved this start of a new to me series.
Hey Karen, I have already read 5 other cozies this year(almost 6). So I may just add everything else I have read to this list and see where it goes! I never thought I would be finishing this goal so quickly, but I think starting this challenge and given me motivation to read more.
Stefanie wrote: "So I may just add everything else I have read to this list and see where it goes!"Go for it!! There is no upper limit on your goal. As I said, start here, then take your list to the next level and the next...
Also... You do the harder version (B). Congratulations on that! I go for sheer number (A) and see where they land by sub-genre, etc. as I read what I want. You could always hit the B target on this level, then go for the A target in the Super Sleuth level!
Happy reading!
Mary - thanks! I hope you get to complete your challenges this year, or at least feel satisfied with how much you do get done. Happy Easter to you as well. Karen - that’s a good idea, I’ll finish up this challenge and maybe try for super sleuth. Although, I am a little scared to aim that high! I may just go for it! Happy reading to you!
- One travel mystery (character could be on a cruise, touring another area, etc.)
4 Stars
I didn’t even realize this when I read this book, but I believe this one counts as a travel mystery, since they are on a cruise ship. I discovered this series due to this challenge and have quickly read through the whole thing. I do very much enjoy it and am currently reading the last which will be my holiday mystery.

I just added this series to my monster TBR.
(Picture Cookie Monster only shoveling books instead of cookies! Get me books!! And more books!)
- One holiday based

Done with this series until the next one comes out in June. Also, done with my challenge! I am now moving on over to level 3.
Stefanie wrote: "Karen - Right?! I’ve been devouring books yet my TBR somehow keeps growing."Somehow, huh? :o) I've met that "somehow" and it has conquered me. It makes me add and add and add... And, I love it!
