Harper Nicole (harpernicole) So... the big question, and I know some of you are already adults, and have this figured out, but, for us youngsters, what do you want to be when you grow up? What do you really want to do, what do you think you're going to do, what job makes you happy? And for the grown-ups out there, you can help us and give us advice!

message 2: by Anna (new)

Anna I'm getting ready to be a veterinarian assistant!! Then a technician in the future, hopefully!

Lana (ohmylily) | 155 comments Well, I'm going to be a music artist, no matter what.
But I'm also interested in music therapy and Psychology, and I want to volunteer and entertain at a senior residents center sometime between 2020-2025.
I have several interests, but I know with all my heart that being a music artist is for me, I literally have no doubt, and I know that may sound silly or jaded, but this is what I was made for.
In 2020, I'm going to launch a video tutorial series on playing guitar, and I have many hopes for the future.
I'm a serious go-getter, I guess, maybe sometimes TOO much, I need to focus on what God's plan is for me, not MY plan for me.

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Those all sound great, guys! I’ve gone between interior design, graphic design, I really love all kinds of art, but I’m not really sure what I want to do. I’m trying to go by what do I really enjoy, that I might have a skill set in. Lol Right now, I really love the film industry. Like really love it. And, I’ve kind of been thinking about production designer because it’s got both graphic design and interior, and all kinds of art mixed in, but that sounds really far fetched, so I’m not sure right now.

Wow Harper! Big ambitions!
I think God may be calling me to be a missionary. I’m not sure yet, but I know he wants me to go to Bible school once I get out of high school, so yeah. If not that, I would probably go into graphic design or some kind of production (music mainly lol)

message 6: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Cool! I like it! Where would to want to be stationed as a missionary?

message 7: by Joey, The Coffee Lover (new)

Joey | 1584 comments Mod
India! Idk why but I’ve seen a lot of sad things about India, and I don’t know any missionaries stationed there! It’s the weirdest thing!

message 8: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Oh, I'm friends with a family that was stationed in India for eleven years, and they have eight kids! So cool, right? We love them, and they're super awesome people. I have a heart for East Africa. In fourth grade, we learned a lot about different countries, and I only remember Kenya from that. I read a book called Kisses From Katie, and she was in Uganda, and I LOVED that book, so cool. And we have a friend who is a missionary in Ethiopia, he's actually from Ethiopia, but still. Anyway, I think I'd want to go over there somewhere!

Abigael | A City Girl's Thoughts (acitygirlsthoughts) I originally wanted to study Communications as an Undergrad but my parents didn't approve so I switched to English. I'm currently studying data analytics but want to work as a Social Media Coordinator, Editor, or Content Creation/Management.

message 10: by Smaug (new)

Smaug the Unmerciful Editor (goodreadscomsupremedrake) | 45 comments I hope your missionary job works out as God plans it, Joey. And, Abby, I've never actually heard of someone who wants to be a Social Media Coordinator. It sounds like one of those jobs that people don't know about but pay big bucks.

I went through a few career wishes in my life. As a kid I wanted to work for either a videogame company or LEGO, then I wanted to be an artist of some sort, then I wanted to work with Weta, and now---I think this is for reals this time---I want to be either a voice actor, writer, or editor---or all three. I also like to make wooden weapons, so, I seem to have a lot of side hustle ideas.

message 11: by Lana (new)

Lana (ohmylily) | 155 comments Okay, let me brag a little bit- Smaug would be an A M A Z I N G voice actor- I'm not kidding. I've heard him do everything from Olaf to Saruman The White in LOTR/Hobbit, and he sounds exactly like them, believe it or not. I know this sounds crazy, but if you were to actually hear him, it's like he turns into someone else for 5 seconds of speaking. If he would become a voice actor, he would ace it majorly. (AND he can sing! *coughs* Not sure if that was supposed to be shared, but I'll take my chances)

That’s so cool Harper! Oh, and yes, I’ve heard about that book! We actually own it, but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. Soon tho...
Sweet Smaug! Sounds like you have many talents!

message 15: by Anna (new)

Anna I LOVE singing! It probably annoys people when I have my headphones on in the car or at home because I can't help but sing!

message 16: by Joey, The Coffee Lover (new)

Joey | 1584 comments Mod
Oh gosh, lol. I sing ALL THE TIME. 😂😂

Social Media Coordinator is also listed as Social Media Management. It's not unheard of, but the problem with that field is its oversaturated, aka a lot of people want to go into that field so its very competitive to get hired!
By the way, your side hobbies are awesome! For editing, if you want to work in publishing try to join your college's literary magazine, since it's supposed to reflect how a publishing company is run. If they don't have one, join their newspaper committee. Editors are also hired by newspaper and magazine companies; this will give you experience in that area too.
The abovementioned will help you when you apply for internships ☺

EXACTLY

message 19: by Anna (new)

Anna I get shy too but sometimes I don't realize I'm doing it!

Me. Too!!! I sang just, like, two seconds ago. Lol

😂
Me and my sister were just practicing a special for church... lol

message 23: by Lana (new)

Lana (ohmylily) | 155 comments e-e I CAN'T sing right now, it's AWFUL. I'm sick and my throat feels like someone stuck a grater down it like parmesan cheese.
It's killing me not being able to sing, especially when I'm playing guitar. (Oh yeah, AND talk since it hurts too bad. Of course, my FAMILY isn't bothered by that fact XD)
LAAAAA LAAAAAAAAAAAA LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
DONUUUUUTTTTTTS ARE BEST WHEN THEYYY'RE CREAAAM FILLLLLLLLLLLLLED!!
*Takes a dramatic bow*

message 24: by mya (new)

mya (moonlightjelly) | 28 comments I really hope to be an author! Technically I've already published a book, but I mean I want to continue with that. I also love blogging and photography, so I would probably do some side things with those.
I feel like I'm the only one here who isn't good at singing and doesn't sing much... lol. I do love piano though.

message 25: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Yes, that would be amazing, Mya!

I can't sing much either right now, Lana. I'm sick too!!!! It totally sucks. Especially at church, and you're either standing there doing nothing while they sing, or coughing to death after you actually try to sing. Ugh. Lol

message 26: by Erin (new)

Erin I mean I want to be an actress. I love acting and it would so fun to be in all those movies. I would also love to be a singer.
Since those are both hard jobs to live off of my backup plan would be a elementary school teacher. However I’m still trying to be an actress.

So cool Tardis!

message 28: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) That's so awesome, Tardis! I think it would be so fun to be an actress too! That's like my dream job, but I can' see that happening for me. Lol
