Happy new year. I just wanted to let everyone know if you didn’t see the post I did in the 2019 thread. We have the 2020 Determination Plus Challenge thread up. Come on over and join us. Everyone that has done the challenge with us in past have enjoyed it. We made it very easy and doable. So come over and join in.

Rita, I never have much luck putting links in Goodreads posts. If I’ve succeeded (by a miracle), click on it and you’ll go to the first post in the 2020 Determination List thread. It explains what to do to create a D List. These are individualized lists of books that we make a resolution to read this year. This year it’s 10 free choice books and 10 on various assigned topics.
It’s not compulsory in any way for board membership. Some members have been together for decades and we started it a long time ago. It’s traditional and it’s for fun. The main rule for creating and working your D List is “do it any way you want to.” I, for instance, don’t list 20 books, but another preferred number.
As we read our list books we post to note our progress. Right now, in the 2020 topic you’ll mostly find a bunch of blank templates posted, to be filled in as we progress. If you want to see what it will look like a year from now, drop down to the thread right below 2020 lists to find the 2019 thread.
I confess that I’m explaining all this to you because I’ve muddied the D List waters a bit by posting a non-Determination List personal challenge in the midst of the D List thread. I’m a troublemaker like that.
When you’ve found the 2020 thread post something to let us know and then I’d ask everyone else to comment to you over there rather than hijacking the JF/NR thread.
Rita, hope to see you there! My name is Jan; you’ll see me there.
I just updated my goodreads shelves added a few new ones. I'm trying to do a new system with reading. I'm going to try better to keep my current reads shelve up to date and post here what I'm currently reading. Also if I'm doing review arcs I'm also going to try and have a owned print book going at same time. You know me always a more than a few books on my current shelf. Below is what my current reads are. 1. Hidden Summit by Robyn Carr (owned print book yet I started reading it from the large print copy from library which I did take back).
2. Resist Me by Chelle Bliss (ebook)
3. Hid from Our eyes by Julia Spencer-fleming (arc Netgalley)
4. The Third Rainbow Girl by Emma Copley Eisenberg (arc from shore bookstore )
5. 10th Anniversary by James Patterson (library book)
6. After the Game by Abbi Glines (library book and might have ebook too) haven't started yet.
I have two other books on my current shelf on goodreads one I'll move to after the Carr book gets finished and the other one I started a few pages and just put aside. but hoping to get back to soon. I have a few other library books two of which is the f2f needlepoint book group that I haven't done in I don't know how long. I took one book back unread for that which is the february book but the Jan and march one are below but reading them or returning them unread is another thing. Depends on my mood any given day.
The secret of Clouds by Alyson Richman
The Things we cannot say by Kelly Rimmer.
The other library book I just took because I was in the mood to read a Nicholas sparks book is The Rescue. I can't remember if I own a print copy or not.
My goal today is start The Third Rainbow girl and the Patterson book. Read more of the Robyn carr book. And it depends if my eyes get tired with reading print books I might switch to the Ebooks.
But half a day is gone I still have to eat lunch and no reading has gotten done yet today. so after lunch it's time for print book reading.
Sandy: Thanks for mentioning Joe R. Lansdale. I haven't read this series yet. Would these short stories be a good intro? JF The Last Conversation, my first 2020 book read.

Must read for fans."
Rita: enjoy! I started the Outlander series with an audio of a later entry, A Breath of Snow and Ashes I really enjoyed it and sometimes watch the tv series, but oddly couldn't get into reading Outlander. Rita wrote: "I just added Outlander to my currently reading shelf."

Hi Ann. Absolutely, they give you a great taste of the author's style & sense of where these characters came from. Happy reading!

Ann wrote: "Rita: enjoy! I tried at least 4 times to read Outlander and never got farther than about 75 pages.
Rita wrote: "I just added Outlander to my currently reading shelf."I'm a huge fan of the Outlander series....its one of the few I've done a re-read of. Enjoy! (The series on Starz is very good too)
Back in stone ages when I did Outlander it took me maybe 3 times to read the book I finally did a combo of reading and audio it worked a lot easier. I never read the books that I did as the only book probably why they always too a year or more. Plus I had lousy ubs copies that I must have bought at same time so they were smelly or not the best. Still have one more of those for the next one of those I have to read plus ebook. At the time I remember even going to BN and sitting there reading the trade size copy a few times. I’ll get around to reading the next one that I need to at some point.
Dawn wrote: "I'm a huge fan of the Outlander series....its one of the few I've done a re-read of. Enjoy! (The series on Starz is..."Wow, Dawn. That’s a LOT of rereading,
I’ve never tried any Outlander books. Not my thing.

JF The Man Who Saw Everything print Long listed for the Man Booker prize and by a favorite author Deborah Levy. A small book that took me a while to read, an unexpected turn mid way in and my usual limited time to read print books on paper led me to set it aside and then pick it up last night. Levy takes her readers on a journey that surprises.
