Group of Unfortunate Events discussion

I was doing some research on Daniel Handler, and I discovered this true story. Once, somebody was interviewing Daniel Handler for a newspaper, and the interviewer asked him to sign a copy of “The Wide Window” for his daughter, Juliet. This was what he wrote. “
“To Juliet, a future orphan. D.H. (Allegedly L.S.)” What?! Is that a threat?! I copied that information word for word, it’s all true.

Most people's children are future orphans. Most children nowadays outlive their parents.
