Duration: December 1, 2014 – February 28, 2015
We are a YA Book Club, so all books should be young adult (unless otherwise noted). Thanks to Ash who, once again, had some great suggestions.
You have 3 months to read 10 YA books that satisfy following requirements:
1. Read a book that is a new release published in December of 2014, January or February of 2015. GoodReads offers lists of the most popular new releases by month, they might help you to make your choices – December, January, February (If you have difficulties obtaining these new books, you can read a release from the same months in the prior year).
2. Many book awards are announced in the winter (Printz, Newbery, Cybils, etc). Read a past or present award winner.
3. Read a book that takes place during winter or a winter holiday.
4. December is BINGO month. Read a book that starts with one of the letters of the word BINGO. For an extra challenge read the entire word.
5. January 19 is National Popcorn Day. Celebrate by reading a book that was made into a movie in either 2014 or 2015. Ideas here: http://www.imdb.com/search/title?at=0... http://www.imdb.com/search/title?at=0...
6. February 11 is Make a Friend day. Make a new book friend by reading a book that another challenge contender is reading (or read with the book discussion group in December, January or February).
7. For Valentine’s Day, read a romance (or anti-romance if you prefer)
8. Read a book that is a sequel. You do not have to have read the prior book(s).
9. Read a book that was written before you were born (or if you can’t find one written before you were born, read one that takes place before you were born).
10. Read an author’s debut title (extra credit if you read a debut from 2014 or 2015). 2014 Debuts, 2015 Debuts
Everything should be done on this thread - your questions, your plans and your progress.
