In 2019, I read from 110 different countries plus about 30 revisits, etc. My 2020 goal is just 80, mostly from countries that I have not visited in the last 3 years.

The plan:
Africa 21
Asia 8
Caribbean 8
Europe 21
Latin America 5
Middle East 4
North America 3
Oceania 11

1. Home Country: North America: USA: Thorne in the Rose City by Justin A. McWhirter Thorne in the Rose City by Justin A. McWhirter.
This is not only from my home country, but my city Portland, OR. The author is a friend of my son. I've been saving it since my spring birthday to be my first book of 2020. I'd like to think Portland is not as violent as this book portrays, but it is a truer picture than the few episodes of Portlandia that I have seen. There are some errrors of geography: Portland has numbered avenues not streets and the park of the pivotal scene is called Waterfront Park, but it is really Sellwood Riverfront Park. It's a short book and a fast read.

17. Africa: Guinea-Bissau: The Cobra by Frederick Forsyth The Cobra by Frederick Forsyth.
The action in this book takes place in about 15 countries plus at sea and in the air. USA and Colombia get many more pages, but G-B provides some pivotal scenes and is the intended destination of many interceptions at sea or in the air.
