Kelsey (kelvetica) I'm looking for a book where the story is told through the point of view of a cat. Its owner is an artist that paints animals (in a traditional Japanese ink style if I recall correctly), and a plot point is that he doesn't paint the cat until the end of the book.

I read it in 3rd grade, so it would have been published any time before 2005. It was probably a shorter story, not sure if exclusively YA but probably made for younger audiences or those who like more simple stories. I remember the major themes being ink paintings of animals, the perspective of the cat, and the artist refusing to paint his cat until the end.

Thank you in advance!
