Anna Here is our first challenge of the group; Blurb Competition #1!!
Ever opened up the inside flap of a book to read what it was about?
That's a blurb.
It's the part that's essential about the book, the part that at first glance captures you, and makes you want to plop down and read that book right on the spot.
Intrigued?

Here are the rules:

1. Write your own blurb to any book- Harry Potter, your own book, or even one that doesn't exist, you just improved the story on the spot!

2. It's a blurb- it fits in a side flap of the book, so the maximum word count is 160. *Sorry folks, that's the rules*

3. Keep it following the rules, and have fun! This starts NOW (1/4/20) and ends the morning of 1/13/20!

4. After that, we'll vote for who's best through a poll I'll send out and the winner goes to the Wall of Champions ⚔!

Post below!

"Anna has lived in her small Russian village sharing a bed with her younger brothers and sisters all of her 16 years. But with the Russian Revolution intensifying she gets a job as a scullery maid to the Count and Countess Berkstov in Moscow and leaves her former life behind.

When only daughter, Katrina, notices this kind and funny new servant she requests Anna become her personal maid. The two quickly become close but must hide their friendship or Anna will be dismissed. But more trouble comes when Anna claims to know Jesus Christ personally and Katrina's older brother comes home on leave and takes notice of his sister's new servant.

Is this a recipe for heartache in Russia's turbulent history or can one humble, servant girl change the course of the lives of the most powerful people in Russian by obeying God no matter what and letting Him work out the details of His mighty plan?"

This is from an entire series of books called The Russians by Michael Phillips and Judith Pella that I read while in my 20s and is currently hugely on sale. I just bought all 7 for $2.99 from Amazon. Hint. Hint. (When I originally bought them it was $12.99 for EACH of the 7 books!)

The Crown and the Crucible / A House Divided / Travail and Triumph / Heirs of the Motherland / The Dawning of Deliverance / White Nights, Red Morning / Passage Into Light

"What's this?" asked his friend, his fluttering wings giving off a soft glow.
"A history," said the traveler, running his hand across the soft leather book, "of one of the many worlds in this universe. It is a story of betrayal, hope, reality. Of the development of society, of loss---"
"You'd better stop right there," said his friend, flitting in front of him. "You're setting my expectations pretty high. Also, that 'loss' thing is way overused."
The traveler smiled. "You are correct, but that is what the story is about."
"Doesn't make it any more original."
His friend darted closer to the cover. "Looks pretty boring."
"Voza, you can't read."
"Yes, but still." Voza lowered, level with the book. "It's pretty thick. You'd better get started if you want to finish that monster."
The traveler looked down reverently at the gold lettering, tall and thin, set against the reddish leather.

The Earths

He smiled, and opened the book.

Faith (victorianprincess) | 17 comments Below the deck of the FLYING DUTCHMAN, in the stuffy little galley, a young mute boy crouched with his dog. frightened by the tossing of the ship, and the fearful screams of Captain Vanderdecken, who defied the wind and the waves to succumb him, they waited in complete silence.
Ben and Ned had always stayed together, ever since they found each other, and together they protected themselves from the rough sailors and wickedly cruel Captain as the latter sought to sail in the fearsome waters skirting the island of Tierra del Fuego.
Where had the mysterious two come from and where were they headed?
Doom and destruction, or Deliverance?
Find out in the thrilling saga entitled: Castaways of the Flying Dutchman written by the author of the New York Times' bestselling series, Redwall- Mr. Brian Jacques.
