ItCoO: internal monologue

Not really, we have a subjective third person narrator that switches point of view characters between chapters so I kind of expect this to continue throughout. I must admit that in the audio book I was sometimes a bit confused, but I had increased the speed of the audio, so I think it may have come from there.

Is anyone else slightly bothered by the internal monologue being third person past tense? I always have to consciously remind myself that this is now a character, not the narrator, and it takes me out of the story a little bit each time. Just a minor thing, but an oddity I've noticed.
