I have read two books totaling 768 pages (one I can’t mention cuz it’s for a thing; the other is A Gentleman in Moscow). Tomorrow I’ll finish Life: A User’s Manual, bringing it up to 1,349. Then I’m giving my eyes a break for a couple of days.
Nice Kati! I'm 457 pages through The Stand, taking my time while on a visit home. Slow and steady!
I finished The Hundred-Year Marathon today. Excluding the bibliography, that starts me at 244 pages so far (still reading other books at the 'mo).
Yeah I'm sticking exactly to goodreads numbers, too. You're gonna finish by spring at this rate!
And Jake, if you use the goodreads page count it'll include the bibliography I think, but that's fine. I'm reading e-books with quite variable page counts between versions of the same book, so it's more standardized this way.

Nah, I read the majority of a couple books, including a long one, in 2019, and I have a couple books I have to read for a work-type thing, so January is going to be VERY atypical.
Yeah, Goodreads count seems to be accurate when I check the page amount (on the paper copies I have) and their own count. I noticed they count the bibliography and notes section so I've been intentionally deducting those pages from my count - seems crazy to add in almost an extra hundred pages that I rarely read (unless it's a note or reference that I follow up).
That's fair, I guess I'm thinking of novels that usually have a few odd pages at the end. A 100-page bibliography is a bit much!
I've just finished The Stand by Stephen King, which puts me at 1153.

I'm at 2841. The books Ive finished so far are. Starsight by Brandon Sanderson. The gentleman bastards by Scott lynch (first 3 books) and the vagrant by Peter Newman.
I just finished Absolution Gap, Alastair Reynolds, which puts me smack on 1000 pages. Holiday starts next week so I should be able to knock back a book or two.
well I'm at 847 pages counting 1Q84 (third book) by Murakami, Orwell's Animal farm and about 10 scientific literature articles.
hey now... Reading is hard. It takes a long time sounding out all the words. So Jill, thank you for allowing audio books,
I'll accept audio books, but I'm afraid I have to insist on metric for all measurements. Will not be accepting page counts in bushels.
I don't think any of you have met Kati, by the way. She came to Guiyang with the Peace Corps several years ago. Kati, we're all Guiyang crew in here, with Jake, a Welshman who has left Guiyang and been dragged back already. Andrew, the illiterate page count leader, is from Buffalo and has been in Guiyang a good while now. Philippe left Guiyang to pursue important things like "science" and "professional dignity" in France.
Wow, "science" AND "professional dignity" -- someone clearly doesn't work for the American government. BTW, I just started reading Underground Airlines, looked at the author photo, realized the author was white, and now I'm feeling... trepidatious...
I just joined the group! I am currently at 1,143 pages read so far for the year. I have read "Rats Saw God," "Winter Town," and "The Wedding Date." I am also reading four other books, so that adds to my total! A great app that I found to count pages read is Beanstack; they also count minutes read.
Just finished Sapiens and Redemption Ark inbetween pagoda sight seeing. Puts me on a total of 2,192 words. Stay safe for those folks in China.
Thanks Jake! Watch my page count soar while I'm hiding in the house . Gonna be done 20k by the time the virus clears us! When are you guys back?
Finished The WOOL Omnibus last night, bringing me up to 4334. If the outbreak has got you craving some post-apocalyptic bunker-dweller fiction, I'd totally recommend it.
Reporting in. Just finished book one of the Expanse trilogy and have read such classics as "This is your brain on parasites" and "Natives: Race and class in the ruins of Empire," leaving me at 2275.

How do you find The Expanse?

I couldn't get through the show, found it hard to follow because I didn't care about the characters and kept getting them confused.
I just finished reading Words of Radiance, pushing me up to 5421. I feel like I'll be half done the challenge before schools open again!
