One on One's discussion

so, are you wanting to like branch off the story we were doing, or like come up with something completely different?

I don't really know what the story was in the first place, so maybe we should do something new. ^_^;

Okay sounds good :) so what time period do you like? And o you like fantasy, supernatural, real life, romance, etc.

I like almost all genres. But I like medieval, Victorian, 1920s, 1940s, and futuristic time periods. ^_^ I'm really open to anything. Is there anything you've wanted to do rp for a while but haven't got the chance?

Well, I'm really good with anything, too lol. And I can't really think of something that's been like majorly on my mind. You wanna like do something medieval-ish?

Sure. Knights, dragons, the whole works? I have some characters I never got to use and I probably can reuse them if we do a medieval theme. What should be the conflict/plot?

Hm... Maybe there's an illness? Perhaps there's a conspiracy with some leader taking people off of the streets for something? Oh, perhaps this leader wants to summon a plague and is experimenting on people because this leader once was a noble or ruler? Or maybe a kingdom took over another one and the old royal wanted to bring back chaos?

I'm just ranting ideas. Let me know if you see something you think would be interesting.

Omg those are awesome! Like, it could be some magic illness or something that like this evil guy can like control maybe, and so he's trying to take over the country by releasing it? Or maybe he's having to test it out first, so he starts rounding up peasants and stuff for experimentation- and maybe like our characters like escaped and are trying to stop him or something?

How about we decide on romance later? I don't like to force my characters into those kind of things. But I suspect there won't be romance from the start anyways. :D

Personality: Kindhearted yet stern, Mathias believes in fairness among people despite their place on the social ladder. To him, everyone is a person first, then social statuses come into play after. Still, this view can get him into trouble since it seems he defies authority, but in his case, authority has to be earned, not just labelled as one. He is ever respectful and polite, but once he warms up to you, he can be a little teasing and sarcastic.
Strengths: streets smarts; education; determination; fair; good with his hands; music.
Weaknesses: sometimes rash; stubborn; his adopted father; slightly claustrophobic.

History: Mathias grew up in an orphanage after a mysterious figure left him on the doorstep. However, when he was six, he caught the attention of a man as he struggled to defend one of the younger kids who was accused of stealing even though they were on the opposite side of the street. The man was kind and thought Mathias had a kind heart as well. He was adopted by this man and was taught by him. The man that found him was an aging scholar and so he gained an education that many couldn't even dream of. When he was fourteen, he became apprenticed to a baker to help with finances since the scholar recently had an object stolen and he didn't have enough to feed another mouth. Still, Mathias stayed with the man as he brought in money as he worked for the baker. Then, when Mathias was seventeen, the man fell ill and though Mathias wanted to be at his bedside, he kept on working at the man's insistence. Eventually, Mathias managed to scrape together enough money to get the old man medicine, but still he was weak. Things kept moving along and Mathias was nearing the end of his apprenticeship when one night, coming home late from the bakery, he was attacked from behind. And then he found himself taken by a power-hungry, insane man looking to unleash a horror upon the world.

Other: He can play some music with a flute and often after work he would visit the tavern and play a little ditty much to the audiences delight.

Well, which one do we want to do? It can either start with the escaping part or they already escaped and so it's not as action-y in the beginning.

Mathias shivered as cool rivers of water ran down his face, his neck, and his back. It had been raining for the past couple days which was a blessing and a curse. The boilings steel grey clouds made it harder for them to be chased since the downpour has been heavy, but it also meant that he couldn't escape easily. In his borrowed boots, Mathias slipped down an alley between two shops and made it back to their temporary shelter, shaking his head as water fell into his eyes. Running a hand across his face to push his hair out of the way, he announced, "It's Mathias." Then he slipped through the doorway.

Jess jumped at the sound of Matthias's voice. She turned quickly. "Oh," she let out a sigh of relief. "How did it go?" She put a pan underneath another spot where the roof was leaking. This place definitely wasn't a palace, but it was safe. That was all Jess cared about at the moment. She'd stayed in worse, anyway.

"Not good, but I managed to get this." Pulling a raggedy satchel off his shoulder, Mathias reached into the bag and pulled out a tatty cloak, a better pair of boots, and a loaf of bread that had a tinge of color on its crust at one end. Smiling slight, he gave a shrug as he moved to sit down next to her. "It's not much, but it's better than I thought I would find," he added, trying to speak more positively. Cold droplets ran down his back and he barely managed to not shiver.

"No, it's great." Jess managed a smile. "Here, scoot over so you're not under the water." She moved to give him room.

He didn't bother to protest, instead he took the worn cloak and draped it over her shoulders and held out the boots. "As soon as it lightens up, I think we should move on. I think I saw one of his men enter the inn as a passing by," Mathias said, glancing over at her to gauge her reaction. Of course he too felt fear that their escape would be short-lived, but he was better at hiding those emotions when something practical needs to be done such as strategizing or organizing things. It's been his way since a child, which was a habit his adopted father used when he was studying and when he worked for the bakery. It made them both happy to be able to work. A small pang of homesickness went through him.

Jess stiffened as he put the cloak over her shoulders. She wasn't used to people being nice to her like that. Instinct made her shove it off again. "No, here, you have it." She handed it back to him. Hearing his other comment, she swore under her breath. "Where else can we go?"

Giving her an exasperated look, Mathias gestured to himself. "I'm fine. You have it and you keep it," he said firmly but not unkindly as he replaced the cloak on her shoulders. "And I don't know. It's better to keep moving than not."

Jess decided not to protest. "Yeah," she nodded. "I think I might know of a place." She'd wanted to keep that place secret, but it was a life or death matter now. It had been her only refuge that nobody knew where it was when she lived on the streets. She still had a hard time fully trusting Matthias sometimes.

Nodding, Mathias stared out at an invisible map of the town in front of him as he tried to guess where the man would send his lackeys after them. "That's good. Then you make sure to lead the way and I'll follow after you at a distance so we both won't be captured if things come to that," he said practically. Though it pained him to even think of the possibility. Freedom was something he wasn't ever going to forget and if he was taken again, Mathias was sure he would try again or die trying.

"That sounds good." Jess said. "When do you think we should go out?" She coughed. The effects of the experiments still hadn't completely worn off but she tried to hide it. She didn't like coming off as weak.

Running a hand through his slightly curled hair, Mathias gave a small shrug as he thought. "Maybe later on tonight? We would be harder to see and it seems the rain might let up later on too." Of course, it would be harder to go after the rain lets up since their pursuers would go out as well. And they were better hunters than they that were at hiding. "Unless you want to rest longer can and wait until tomorrow when we can blend with the morning rush?" he suggested.

"No, tonight's good." Jess said. "The longer we're here we risk getting found. I'm better and blending in darkness better than a crowd anyway." She scooted over as a new leak dripped over her head.

"All right. Then I guess we sit tight for now," he commented, shifting so that his long legs were closer to his chest, though it was hard for him to make himself small since he was quite tall. Resting his arms on his knees, he let a few seconds of silence pass. And he couldn't stand it so Mathias asked conversationally, "Do you have any family, Jess?"
