Mark Pghfan | 95 comments This is the only book where Ariadne Oliver appears prominently without Poirot. (I know she was in a short story for Parker Pyne, but not prominently.) She is her usual lucky self here, in a very spooky and atmospheric mystery.

If any of you have seen either of the TV adaptations, beware they are not terribly like the original book, especially the second one where Miss Marple is present.

Alberto This was different, but in a good way. In the end I struggled with whether it was 4 stars or 5, a good problem to have. You had a general sense of how it would resolve, but the actual explanation is quite ingenious.

Alberto Lauren, I assume there's some way to throw the spammer out of our group?

I was referring to the user with a post immediately before mine, which is no longer there. It would appear that goodreads deleted the account.

Reija | 42 comments The title actually make me think of Nancy Drew and then story line (those predicted deaths) is something like that Peter O'Donnell really loves to use in Modesty Blaise stories. But Agatha, of course, likes drugs.

I loved this, so spooky feeling and all those cover stuff. I haven't read Ariadne Oliver books before but I have to say I didn't miss Marple or Poirot this time at all. He actually did something not just think.. it was nice for change.
