Is the manga better than the movie series? I loved the first 2 movies but there wasnt really anything leading up to the last one. It was just a hard turn in the opposite direction seemingly out of nowhere and I was not a fan. I assume the manga has more 'meat' to it? More backstory and a more detailed plot?

The manga is quite gritty and well drawn and the animators have done a good job of bringing the characters to life in the movie versions, so I have to say I like both.

I don't know anything abiout the anime but i'm reading the mang right now (10 volumes in) and it's already one of the best manga i've read in my life.

For what i heard, the movies are good. You should probably do both (if you can).

I've watched the movies and fell in love with them which inspired me to read the manga. I've read up to volume 5 I believe before taking a break.

If you like the movies then you'll love the manga. A fair warning; the manga does not begin the same way the movies do however don't let that throw you off. The story is riveting and we learn more of Gut's backstory and life before he became the ruthless killer that he is today.

Of course, lots of trigger warnings ahead. Be weary of mentions of rape, suicide, and abuse. The Berserk manga does not hold back with exposing the evils of humanity.

I have heard nothing but good things about the manga. I own it but have not started it yet because, chances are, I'll end up binging it.

Started watching the Anime before reading the Manga. It was a little confusing at first. The manga is slower to give details in the overall story plotline, which the movies and anime cut straight to. I'd say give the first few volumes a try.

Just finished the first 'The Black Swordsman' arc and I love it!

Since then I have started reading the Manga first, and if interested enough, watch the corresponding anime. Sometimes though the anime gives off spoilers.

I watched the original 90s version of the anime as a kid/teen and then had to see what happened next because it ends on the biggest cliffhangers of all anime history. Back then I was sooooooooo bummed and was at a loss but then found the manga and realized that this goes way past the anime.

90s version anime, then read the manga. Or just read the manga if you are an avid manga reader.

the anime of bersek is really good the storyline especially although the animation of the newer season is crazy bad maybe its me but i dislike is alot

I believe the newer season was the CG one correct? Don't worry, you are not alone in this view from what I have seen others state. :)
