What Order?

I know I started reading a Redwall book as a kid and somehow got derailed from it (not terribly uncommon for me). I might like to try reading the series again. The only problem is, I don't remember which one I started with, and it looks like there's more than one order to read them in. I only list one book in a series on my To Read list at a time (with very few exceptions). Is there one order that someone could recommend? If so, please also give a reason as to why such an order is preferable. Thanks!

I suggest starting with Martin the Warrior as it is the first (chronologically) and one of the best!

Agreed. Jacques confirms Martin the Warrior is the first, and Ms. Mazzou is right that it is one of the best, wot. The chronological order is, in my opinion, the preferred order simply because it strings together the progress of the land (e.g. the introduction of the GUOSIM Shrews and other organizations) and keeps things orderly.
However, be aware that many of the Redwall books follow a very similar plot line and tropes, so you may want to avoid reading them all in succession. I love them most of all when taken in single doses over gaps in time :)

Martin the Warrior
Mossflower
Mariel
The Bellmaker

Those are the 4 I would start with, in my prefered order (or atleast the order I read them in as a child)
but here is a link that gives both publication order and chronological order
