I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It is a YA so it's an easier read. I liked the way the author broke up the parts of the book with excerpts from the family diary/spellbook. I was surprised by the twist near the end. Definitely didn't see that one coming (where Oliver actually came from). I did think the way that the end wrapped up was kind of typical YA. You know, everything goes horribly wrong, but due to a plot twist, it's all good and everyone lives happily ever after - LOL. Still enjoyed it though :)
