For years, it was understood that a particular corridor in Mallory Hall was locked for the safety of the Headmaster's second daughter, who was severely ill and still under their care. The headmaster spoke of her little to the staff, and not at all to the students. He told them only that the corridor was off limits to all but those his other daughter, Elizabeth, chose to admit. Elizabeth was happier to talk about her sister, explaining that her name was Dawn and that she was several years behind in emotional maturity, as well as being mute. She took a few of the students who knew sign language in to see her sister so that they could hold proper conversations, and eventually started taking her long-time boyfriend, who made an effort to learn sign language so that he could communicate with Dawn. Dawn and Lucas seemed to be getting along so well. She believed that he saw her as a replacement for his own dead sister...but that night changed everything. The next day, Dawn was found dead, lolling grotesquely from the ceiling. The headmaster was going to wall off the corridor, but Elizabeth pled with him not to, as she still wanted to visit it in order to remember Dawn. He conceded to her request, giving her the key. And so nothing has changed, but whoever is caught here without Elizabeth's permission will be severely punished, for the Farrow family will not have Dawn disrespected.
