Ok I just started this, I'm only to page 20. I know it'll be a plot device later but I was so put off (view spoiler)[ when Quincy stole the girl's phone! And her drawer of other stolen stuff! I felt so bad for the cafe girl. (hide spoiler)]

I am starting this tonight! FINALLY.

I've made it to Chapter 10 and I'll put a spoiler tag here even though it's not really a spoiler, but (view spoiler)[I am suspicious of literally everyone (except possibly Coop). (hide spoiler)]

At Chapter 13 now, and I've just read the scene where (view spoiler)[Joe licks his lips while holding a knife and I honestly got chills reading that??? Honestly, I had to put the book down and take a little break, lol. (hide spoiler)]

In Chapter 14, I'm immediately put off by the whole scene in this chapter because (view spoiler)[Riley Sager just *HAD* to make the mugger "raven-black" haired and "cocoa" skinned, didn't he? This kind of thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 17 and (view spoiler)[UH OH starting not to trust Coop quite as much...I'm basically backed into a corner here yelling "I TRUST NO ONE!" hahaha (hide spoiler)]

At Chapter 32 and all I gotta say is (pardon my language, lol, but) (view spoiler)[Craig is such a fuckboy (hide spoiler)].

Okay, I've finished the book. I'll wait to see what you think before I add all my thoughts :)

We've run into a toddler who doesn't like to nap unless he's in the car, so I've been spending 2 hours sitting in the car at a park lately, haha! That's how I sneak in most of my reading time lately.

ahhhhhh a toddler that still naps hahahaha I would love it. my four year old is very insistent that he DOESN'T NEED A NAP and then hes asleep by 7 lol

My two youngest boys were born April 30, 2015, and I have one younger that was a 28-weeker preemie born July 12 2018! I also am now mom to their two big brothers (born 2010 and 2005). We adopted the four of them from foster care in September of last year! We've had them all since just before the baby was born.

Hi Brave, can I message you about foster care and adoption? I'm amazed that you're so young and have adopted 4! My husband and I are in the baby steps of looking into foster care and/or adoption.

We weren't initially super interested in adoption necessarily at first. We really wanted to meet the foster care need in our area (which is in Appalachia, hit really hard by the opioid crisis), but our boys are perfect and wonderful humans, fit into our families perfectly (and we fit into theirs!), and with their spread of ages, we absolutely did not want them separated. I'd choose it over and over again!

Page 96 - So, I'm perversely loving this dynamic between Sam and Quincy. I love Sam. The Xanax binge was a really strange but powerful scene. It just made me imagine living in a world of that nasty, negative, brain space.

page 107 - the flashback after Joe is invited in:

Janelle is an idiot. Period.

page 119 - Coop is annoying paternalistic.

I was friends with someone SO MUCH LIKE Janelle in high school and reading that scene legitimately made my heart race. Like SHE IS SO DUMB!! But also...I found that scene almost TOO believable lol.

page 142 - they just found out Lisa was murdered. But the stuff about Quincy wanting Coop to notice the bruise just 100% solidified my impression that her relationship with Coop is NOT healthy.

Oh, Janelle's level or stupid is definitely believable. unfortunately lol

page 224 (view spoiler)[ whoooooaaa Sam is a good bad guy. but I still also don't trust anyone else. their fight in the kitchen was intense (hide spoiler)]

page 252, she's flying back from Chicago. (view spoiler)[ ok, the author is losing me. major suspension of disbelief problems. this is NOT how police act during investigations - into Lisa's murder or the beating in the park. also, handing out information via email about investigations? Wouldn't happen in a millions years. same thing with the search, or lack of search, of Lisa's house. it would have been swept top to bottom and that lock box would have been the easiest clue in the world. ugh. really putting me off. I'm also getting sick of the "are you ok" conversations between Quincy and Jeff. (hide spoiler)]

Ok, I finished. (view spoiler)[ So I really LIKED the identity theft plot twist. Fabulous. Still made Tina a bad guy but also a good guy. I really did NOT like Coop's reveal. The motive I thought was kind of flat and stupid. Good Guy Kills "Sluts". Blah. Also, my suspension of disbelief problems. And too - after finishing the boom I can see why all the Central Park stuff was in there and I can see the plot device but I wanted MORE from that. Like more about ok did she actually kill her stepfather? did she hide his bloody clothes? Like that story doesn't connect with Tina's 'expertise' that shocked Quincy. It was fun but I feel like especially in the second half of the book, I had to actively ignore some things to have fun. (hide spoiler)]

After thinking more since last night, (view spoiler)[ I decided I also like the sex scene between Quincy and Coop because it was really tense and weird but then I feel like they could have played that up a lot more during the climax with them in the cabin. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I totally get all of what you said! I had to suspend a lot of disbelief, for sure, though admittedly, I didn't really mind the openness of the ending bits. Coop's reveal was definitely a bit lackluster, but I'm not super familiar with thrillers as a genre. Like, I don't read many, and I think Final Girls was one that I felt like I hadn't read before. I did think that the sex scene was weird at the time, especially since it didn't really seem to do anything for the ending, but I do think it was an interesting choice. I want to pick apart Riley Sager's brain. (hide spoiler)]
