I think she was about to tell him and would have if they hadn't left for London is such a rush. Mena knew that telling Liam the truth was a risk and it made her hesitate, hoping that there was a way for all of this to be resolved without Liam not feeling betrayed.
I think she was about to tell him too but events prevented her from doing that. I think she thought if she stayed out of sight, there wouldn't be a risk.
Let me just say that the keeping secrets trope is exceedingly annoying. While, I understood why Mena kept the truth from Liam for most of the book, the journey to London was the perfect time to tell him. The fact that she didn't showed a distinct lack of trust that undermined the romance for me a little.
