On several occasions, Mena sensed she was being watched in the woods. Did you suspect it might be Hamish? We’re there any clues to lead you to believe he was still alive?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I thought there was a slim possibility that he had somehow survived the shipwreck. The fact that he came home for revenge made sense to me while I was reading.

It would be him or someone from England who found out where she was.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments That Hamish survived the explosion, recovered from very serious injuries, made it back to Scotland and managed to remain hidden kinda stretched the limits of believable. I suspected there were secret passages and rooms. I didn't know who it was, but I knew it was someone.

After the first few references to the "figure", and the description of what happened to Hamish, I knew it was him. It was just a feeling, I guess, but it became clear to me that it was someone who was severely disfigured and then it clicked into place with talk of the horrific explosion.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I didn't think he could have survived the shipwreck so it didn't occur to me that it was him. I was thinking that it was someone from England, working for her husband, who had found out she was there.

Ditto!

Robin (robinmy) | 2454 comments The possibility of the "figure" being Hamish really didn't cross my mind.
