I am planning on reading Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. She is one of my favorite authors and it is one of the only books of hers that I haven't read.
Sounds like a great choice, Rebekah! Rebekah wrote: "I'm going to read Ayesha At Last by Uzma Jalaluddin."
Glad to see you back, Nikki! Great selection! Nikki wrote: "The Color Purple. Read for me; Bookclub selection as well."
I'll probably go for my dragon ride. It's a book written by a lady in my parents church about being Christian in China.
Changing my mind. Need something lighter. So going with Mindy Kalan's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
That is on my TBR list, Cassidy! Cassidy wrote: "I am going to read "Heart Berries" by Terese Marie Mailhot."
Sounds like good choice, Sara! Sara wrote: "I'll probably go for my dragon ride. It's a book written by a lady in my parents church about being Christian in China."
I have read some of her stuff. She is hilarious! Barbara wrote: "Changing my mind. Need something lighter. So going with Mindy Kalan's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?"
I'm going for the first 3 volumes of Arata by Yuu Watase. It's a manga so I figure 3 volumes should make it fair
That's fair! Sara wrote: "I'm going for the first 3 volumes of Arata by Yuu Watase. It's a manga so I figure 3 volumes should make it fair"
I am reading Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay. It is one I have been wanting to read and haven't been able to get to
Great choice, John! Roxanne Gay is a great writer!John wrote: "I am reading Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay. It is one I have been wanting to read and haven't been able to get to"
Jay wrote: "Hey, I'm the tall dude in the basketball warmups that came in to visit Rex. Figured I'd join the Challenge...Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn W..."Good choice, tall dude! I listened to the audio version of "Sing, Unburied, Sing" and--with the exception of an early scene that made me a bit queasy--I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I'm a bit of a wimp.
That's awesome, Jay! So glad to have you on board! Jay wrote: "Jay wrote: "Hey, I'm the tall dude in the basketball warmups that came in to visit Rex. Figured I'd join the Challenge even though I'm a member of the Brooklyn Public Library.
Sing, Unburied, Sing..."
I read Tayari Jones' 1st book "Leaving Atlanta." As a coming of age story set against the backdrop of the Atlanta child murders, it had it all! All of the characters should have heeded the title's advice.
I need to read that one, Paul! I have read a couple of her books and really enjoyed them. Paul wrote: "I read Tayari Jones' 1st book "Leaving Atlanta." Sara wrote: "I'm going for the first 3 volumes of Arata by Yuu Watase. I got them from the library where I now live in Oregon but they don't have the 4th volume so I have to decide if i'll continue the series and just skip that one or what.
