Here's a model of an exemplar review:

Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M. Coetzee is a dystopian novel that tells the story of how a "by-the-book" Magistrate is changed after witnessing the inhumane treatment of innocent barbarians in his town by the powerful Empire. Even though the Magistrate was warned that a group of nomadic barbarians were considering rebelling, he does not believe that his town is under much threat because the Barbarians are usually harmless. However, corrupt government officials decide that they are still going to be held prisoner within the walls of his town. After seeing the mistreatment of the barbarians and developing a relationship with a barbarian woman who has been blinded and disfigured by her own people, he begins to reflect upon his own routines and behaviors and decides to make a change, even if it means incurring the wrath of the Empire.

I recommend this book to, well, everyone. There are many ways that people abuse power, and it is important for people that people do not take passive roles when they see injustice. This can extend from political injustice to every day events such as bullying, domestic violence, troubled friends, littering, etc. If we want to be part of a safe community, then we must be active participants in creating a positive environment. As I write this I am reminded of a famous quote by Gandhi--"“We must become the change we want to see.” It reminds me of Sherman Alexie's novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian because Arnold Spirit stands up against the hopelessness within his own community, even if it means he will be an outcast. Just like the Magistrate, Arnold begins to realize that by not challenging himself, he is simply part of the vicious cycle of poverty and may end up like the sad people around him.

The police officers thinks that he killed his dad. He tried his own investigation. The main suspect in his mind was the Guvnor. A lot of people always say that the Guvnor was very dangerous so they should stay away from him. Finn snuck into the Guvnors house. Everything changed after that.
I like to recommend this book to everyone because it is a very good book. I like this book because it basically has everything like drama, action, romance, etc. I feel really bad for the people who is like Finn because who would survive without there parents at a young age. If this would have happened to me I would be really scared. Why did the author choose the setting to be in London? Does the author live there?

So by the end of the book he realize that no matter what he will do his best to save the abnegation.

Wilton G | 12 comments In the book Heroes of the Holocaust by Allan Zullo this book is about the heroes who stood up and tried to save the jews from being killed and taken away to work until they died. This group started out as the jew's went to their houses and talked about there day. But one day it changed which later on will be know in history. No they didn't have superpowers they couldn't fly they were not super strong they were normal people trying to make a change. Many of them were able to save jews and stay alive but many failed trying and died like heroes for the jews because thy knew they tried and it meant alot to them.

I enjoyed this book because they didn't care about what Hitler did to them they just wanted to save as many life's as they could even though they knew sooner or later Hitler would find out. I like how the story is written about diary entires of the heroes and how they all have different stories overall good book.

Sydney | 16 comments In the novel Real Mermaids Don't Hold Their Breath by Helena Boundraw, The book is about a girl, Jade, who is a mermaid trying to save her mother from being kidnapped. Jade has never realized her powers until she was thrown into a pool one day and then wanted to use them to save her mother who supposedly got lost at sea.

I personally didn't love the book, it was a little childish but it did have a good storyline to it. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes teen supernatural genres, there are a few action parts which I personally like too. The only downside is the character development in the story seemed really cheesy and rushed.

Sydney | 16 comments In the novel The Geography of you and me by Jennifer E. Smith, we follow Lucy and Owen who accidentally meet in their apartment building elevator jam. They become fast friends but have to be separated because they are moving to different parts of the world. Throughout the book we see both characters struggles in different places they moved and also family issues. However despite that Lucy and Owen constantly sent postcards to one another from each place they visited.

I liked the book as a really nice girly love story, but I did feel it lacked any real plot other than the difficulty of being thousands of miles away from each other. I did enjoy all the different places in the world they talked about because not the many books do that. I recommend this book to anyone who likes teen romance novels.

Sydney | 16 comments In the novel Fearless by Tawdra Kandle, Tasmyn Vaughn is a young seventeen year old girl who has moved from place to place her entire life because of her gift to read peoples minds. Tasmyn moves to Florida to finish her last two years of high school before she goes off to college and hopes she can fly by without anyone noticing like she usually does. However she meets Nell who suspects of her power and tries to harm Tasmyn because of it.

I loved this book! It had action, thrills, romance, and adventure throughout the entire storyline. I do think it lacked dialogue and dragged along for some parts of the book. Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good thriller/science fiction adventure.

Sydney | 16 comments In the novel Breathless, by Tawdra Kandle, Tasmyn Vaughn put the crazed witch, Nell, in a mental institution after almost getting killed by her. After Nell found out Tasmyn powers she wanted to kill her so she could gain them herself. Although Tasmyn has a new enemy, her chemistry teacher Ms. Lacusta who was also Nell's mentor.

I personally feel that sequel books are never really as good as the first read and that really happened in this one. I felt the book was a little too rushed but it did do a good job of plot. Overall I recommend this book to fans of the first read and anyone who likes a thriller/science fiction genre.

Sydney | 16 comments In the novel Star Girl, by Jerry Spinelli, we follow the role of a teenage by named Leo. He hates being different so like everyone else he chooses to blend in. However one day a girl who calls herself Star Girl transfers to his school and tries to befriend Leo. Star Girl is extremely quirky so people have a hard time accepting Star Girl because she is so different.

I liked the story because it was talking about real life situations and problems for people who aren't like everyone else. It was funny, real, and really heartwarming. I recommend this book to people who are interested in dramatic and melancholy plots.

Strapi experienced wars with Iraq. Persepolis is about the daily life in Iran. It is about her fimily history. She experienced the dangers and the terrible incidents of a war.
