Just finished this book in 2 sittings, and would rate it a 3.5/5. It’s not a solid 4 stars for me as I found the first third of the story to be a little tedious, and thought the time-hop device—weaving the live account of the crash with Edward’s present day world—not very effective at first. The remainder of the book was markedly better, as I was interested watching the older Edward mature, and became more invested in the victims of the crash as their backstories unfurled. Oddly, the parents were some of the least developed characters, but the soldier’s story was poignant and I would have liked to learn more about the young Wall Street guy. The writing was beautiful in parts, but ultimately didn’t leave a lasting impression. Wish I could have finished this in time to discuss with the B&N book club, not a week later, as my post-reading impressions might have become more positive.

Neatly written, easy read.
A healing journey of a flight crash survivor, how Edward/ Eddie find a new life slowly through the help of his aunt, uncle, friendship…
