I was never much good at school and was always at the bottom of the school academically and then around about third year high school I taut myself to read, couldn't really read before that and I went from bottom of the school to top the first book I ever read was The Silver Sword but the first book I ever read that I really loved was Treasure Island I still read it sometimes for the atmosphere in the early chapters and the characters (The Pirates) especially Long John Silver.
Reading eating and cruising it sounds like you love, are you at university or going or working or what?
One of my first jobs was as an all night waiter, I got very good at it, later I was a head barman in Yorkshire England and James Herriot used to come in for a pint, I learnt a lot about the world, people and of course food. When I go to restaurants and hotels now I have a good yarn with the staff they are usually much more interesting than the guests. Cheers Tony
Anne of Green Gables is a very good book.
I think I fell in love with books and stories before I could even read by myseld. As a child I probably fell in love with classic fairy tales by the brothers Grimm, H.C Andersen or 1001 Nights
Mine would have to
I adore this book and still own my original copy from the 80's. I was brought up reading and learning to read by my Mum through audiobooks, I remember reading this one and just falling in love with the magic of the story even though in reality the book is full of devesation and loss.....just like real life really. Tought me an excellent lesson.
And I still read it now occassionally when nothing else seems to hold my interest.
The Bellmaker was my introduction to fantasy and the beginning of a lifelong relationship with reading. When I was first introduced to it as a kid, that book was my best friend. I have it now, 20 yrs later, and its still magical.
It took me a while to get into reading so I didn't love books until I was a teenager. Then I read On The Road
then I read everything 'beat' I could find :) harder to do before Internet shopping!

The first series I fell in love with was the Warrior Cat series. I was so obsessed I read all of them.
You sound so awesome Kay, amazing taste in books.... do you hate harry potter or is he your one weakness?
Jason wrote: "You sound so awesome Kay, amazing taste in books.... do you hate harry potter or is he your one weakness?"Oh I have more than one weakness, the fantasy genre in general really. Liked harry potter great ideas from the genre pulled together. But I wanted a red pen to edit it as I was reading. Did she have an editor? I could pull whole chapters out of those books happily.
Aesop's FablesMy favourite book as a child, I just adored fairy tales & the like. I still have the book at home.

I lost my copy a long time ago, but I remember carrying Aesop's Fables with me everywhere and reading them in class. :P
The Hunger Games I use to read a lot before but The Hunger Games is what sparked my love for reading again and the rest is history as they say :)
Ashleigh wrote: I really liked this book series too. I only heard about it when then made the movie though. At first I didn't like the storyline but when I read it I loved it! I brought the book in 2009 but I didn't read it till they announced the movie.
the first book/s that i fell i love with were the rainbow magic books written by Daisy Meadows when I was around 9
For me it would have to be
everyone needs a little magic in their lives :)Still have my first edition and read it from time to time when no other books can hold my interest.

Nancy Drew was the first set of books I feel in love with. Now, I would say that Jane Eyre was my favorite book ever.
