Ja, det är!

message 4: by ➳Halina➳ (new)

➳Halina➳ The only reason I'd take Swedish is because I like those little dots above the a's.

Oh yeah! Those are pronounced ay, or eh, depending on what letters it follows. And this letter, ö, makes the ur sound, not the oh my gosh open my mouth in an o sound.

True statement. It's strange.

message 19: by [deleted user] (last edited Dec 11, 2014 05:37PM) (new)

Our conversation goes like this:

I'm walking home now

Okay! Be careful :)

I think I'm going to go get hot chocolate right now

Great, have fun :)

Hey Dad can I sleepover at so-and-so's house? At 6:30

Sure thing :)

You are weird

message 22: by ➳Halina➳ (new)

➳Halina➳ Why thank you.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

True story about Ella's dad. It is a rare occasion he doesn't put a smiley face on his texts. Exa:
This is Ella. We have Harding singers
Okay:) Good Luck:)

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

  TRUTH

message 25: by ➳Halina➳ (new)

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm gonna leave this discussion until you are done talking about Ella's dad. Awkward...

Does anyone else feel like tone isn't that distinguishable on Duolingo?

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Oh my gosh, that irks me so badly.

message 29: by Sydney (new)

Sydney (sydneyokayokay) | 164 comments Mod
And that's why they couldn't teach Chinese. Because TTS can't do tone.

Although, it sounds really angry whenever it says something like, My friends hates me, Mina vänner hatar mig. She sounds really angry.

Did you guys know that the phrase, "Ett glas glass", prounounced, et glass glass, means a glass of ice cream? So if you want ice cream, just say, Jag vill ett glas glass snälla, tack!

I have never heard "Jag vill ha ett glas glass" before. A bowl, yes but how do you eat from a glass?

By the way, I like the dots to å,ä,ö

message 33: by Sydney (new)

Sydney (sydneyokayokay) | 164 comments Mod
How would you say, "I want a bowl of ice cream" then?

message 34: by Zosch (new)

Zosch Jag vill ha en skål med glass

message 35: by Sydney (new)

Sydney (sydneyokayokay) | 164 comments Mod
Ja, det är bättre än vad jag hade. Tack! Vad menar du med "By the way, I like the dots to å,ä,ö "? Jag gillar dem för...?

message 36: by Zosch (last edited Feb 09, 2015 09:22AM) (new)

Zosch Well, I like the dots because they show us where our language come from and they are good vowels :)

Oh, glas is prounounced more like glaas with emphasis on the a, but glass is on the s and the tounge moves diffrent on the a.

By the way, if i do anything wrong in my writing, please correct me :)
