Lauren (parnopaeus) | 57 comments I shared this in the other thread about Tor.com's re-read, but I thought it'd be interesting to discuss which House we'd all be in!

https://www.tor.com/2020/02/17/pick-y...
(This link is also a handy tool if you keep forgetting, like I did, who was with what house and what each house was supposedly good at.)

I think this could be a somewhat more complicated version of the Harry Potter sorting hat scenario.

Being that my profession is a librarian, I probably align most closely with the Sixth House, with their orbital library and love of books and all that. However, I love the Fifth House's ability to speak with the dead.

What about you?

Trike | 11255 comments Definitely sixth.

Six for the truth over solace in lies

The Emperor’s Reason
The Master Wardens

In their orbital Library, the Sixth House preserves and investigates the collective knowledge of the Empire. Masters of a thousand esoteric fields of study, they are often considered bookish, but are never to be underestimated.

I thought the same thing :-)

We did have a brief discussion about this in the announcement thread.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

My ideas of where some of us would fit from that thread:

First House - Veronica (The Emperor)

Second House - The Roberator
The Second House is the militant strength of the Emperor. Deeply interwoven with the Cohort, they comport themselves with military rigour in all situations. Their fervent devotion to rank and order makes them prone to taking charge, often over the protestations of other houses.

Third House - Me :-)
The Third House is the vanguard of trend in the Empire, setting fashion and sparking gossip with their every move. Not only do they spark rumours, they also diligently collect intelligence, both personal and political.

Fourth House- Tom
The Fourth House is the vanguard of the Empire, first over the line on every battlefield as the Emperor wages war across the galaxy.

Sixth House- The rest of you ;-)

I'm a trend setter. I've no idea what he's trying to do ;-)

Lee (the Book Butcher) (butcherfromgeorgia) wish I could tell you I was second house but to be honest I'm more of a fourth cannon fodder type.

but hey, don't feel bad for me only the good die Young!

Lisa | 34 comments I'd love to say I'm Sixth House but I'm afraid I might actually be Seventh House. Sometimes my logic fails me :P

And Cavalier, aligns with Mage
Then bones, will move the planets
And Lyctors, will save the stars!
This is the dawning of the age of Nonagesimus, the age of Nonagesimus*...

(*I mentally pronounced it "Nona-jis-mus." Have no idea how it's actually pronounced.)

Thanks! (Hey, there are worse earworms!)
